Nova walks away from me with no hesitation or hurry in her step. She’s not expecting me to run after her, but I want to; I want to fight for this relationship, but I feel like the only thing I do and say are the wrong things.

I breathe out a sigh and turn around, ready to face whatever my brother has to say to us.

“...What the fuck is that supposed to mean, Kai? How is this supposed to work?” I catch the remnants of Konstantin’s rant and see him pacing the floor. Whatever Kai just told him has him highly pissed off. I think we’re all pissed off at Kai in some way.

“What’s going on?” I ask, walking up to them. Konstantin’s eyes are silver, Dimitri has his arms crossed, looking despondent, and Kai is leaning over the counter looking at us all. The women are standing off to the side and are wearing equally shell-shocked expressions. “Did someone die?”

Konstantin scoffs. “Perfect choice of words, little brother,” he says.
