The scent of coffee and the feeling of Hunter’s snout bumping against her hand roused Camille from her slumber. She felt like she had slept for a lifetime and yet her exhaustion was bone deep, weighing her down. Trying to open her eyes felt like a struggle but in the back of her mind she realised that it was now morning and hopefully Sid had made it through the night. Camille didn’t even have a chance to register what Sia had just announced before the woman was off out the door. Speechless was perhaps an understatement for how Camille felt and she tried to get her brain to compute while also trying to dampen down the alarm and panic rising up inside of her. For what had to be the umpteenth time in the last forty eight hours, Jag found himself pressing the tips of his fingers into his closed eyes to try and relieve the pressure from a looming headache. It was only when Sid had made himself comfortable that Camille took a seat in one of the chairs on the hospital room. Outside fat droplets of rain pelted against the window turning the grey sky, buildings and lights from vehicles and signs into watercolour. Somewhere above them, thunder rolled across the skies. It had been several days since the incident in the tunnels and since then, all anyone could talk about what Nathan and Tina. Camille wouldn’t lie, she was still suspicious of Sia’s motives and yet as agreed, she was sitting at a small round dining table that Sia had insisted on being set up in Sid’s room. She could still see in her mind the look on the doctor’s face when she had seen what was going on.“This isn’t a hotel!” “Are you telling me that you would deny a mother the chance to eat dinner with her son after he nearly died?” Sia had been as intimidating as ever in that moment. You are not going back to that man!” Camille was pretty sure that if their door was capable of being slammed, Jag would have slammed it as he stormed into their apartment behind her. She had known her plan wouldn’t go down well but that didn’t deter her from it. She had all but made up her mind. If this was their only shot at flushing Nathan out of his hiding place then Camille was going to make sure they took it.
