Diversion

Richard’s POV:

We made our way through the shortcut that Falcon had proposed.

Darren and I had quickly met with him when the team was put together, and we had decided that we would be taking that route. I didn’t think that it was certainly a trap or anything but it didn’t hurt to be prepared and use the element of surprise on our side.

However much I wanted to believe that things would go smoothly with Elise and Hunter, some part of me knew that it was somehow doomed from the start. Of course I couldn’t just come out and say thy to everyone, so I kept silent. I think it was my serious expression that gave away that I was brooding, for none of my men spoke to me or questioned me at any point in time.

Luckily for us that was what saved us. We were near the presumed location of Elise and Hunter and the sun was shining brightly in the sky.

I heard a twig snap and my ears picked up at the sound of it. Someone was in front of us.

“Stop,” I called out. Everyone of my warriors fell silent imm
