I fold the note, place it inside the sleeve of my dress, and quickly blow the candle out before pulling the stone wall shut behind me. I follow the sound of Maximus's calls. Anna is surrounded by wolves snapping and snarling at her. Then the largest one shifts into his human form. His aura gives off immense power. He must be an Alpha. Alpha Maximus Alex and Bella run into our bathroom after hearing Hope’s screams. 'Bella! get the pack, doctor! Alex, help me get her in the bath!' I shout. Hope thrashes around, trying to free herself from my grip as Alex runs the water over her. But she still feels hot to touch. The cold water isn't helping. 'It burns!' she screams. Alpha Maximus Hope sits up, touching her face and then the bed. 'You aren't dreaming if that's what you're wondering?' I say to her. 'This is the first time Levi has been allowed out of the dungeon in over eighteen years, so this better be good, Alpha Maximus!' Alpha Cal snaps. Levi squints his eyes at me as Alpha Cal says my name. 'Your parents tried to save my beautiful mate, my love. She was my whole world,' he whimpers. 'I'm sorry they couldn't save her,' I say to him. 'I'm sorry my father killed your parents, Alpha Maximus. I am truly so sorry,’ Levi says. 'Me too,' I reply sympathetically. 'This isn't some kind of family reunion! Hope We join the hustle and bustle of the banquet. The pack members dance with one another. They are laughing and smiling and having a great time. ‘You wouldn’t think we just killed their Alpha and took over. They all seem rather happy he’s dead,’ I say to Alpha Maximus. ‘Considering how he treated his own son. I can only imagine how he treated his subjects,’ he says. My father is sitting at one of the dining tables eating. It must have been years since he has had a proper meal. We walk over and join him. Alpha Maximus pours my father and himself a whiskey and passes me a wine. I feel queasy and pass the wine onto the she-wolf beside me. She smiles and nods in thanks. The pack members cheer for us, and we continue to celebrate. I manage to eat part of my meal but quickly excuse myself and run to the nearest bathroom. It’s been three months now since we killed Alpha Cal. My father is about to return to the Dark Moon pack as Alpha. We accompany him to the car. He has gained his weight back and is no longer extremely thin. He trained with Alpha Maximus daily with the rest of the pack, which helped him gain muscle.
