Chapter 01

Vroom!

I drove towards the gate of my family house as I horned watching the security man open the entrance as I got into the compound.

I came out from my wife's Mercedes Benz, dressed up in a blue short jean short trousers and a black oil stained white T-shirt as I walked into the family house glancing about the room before I sat down thinking how my daughter Esther who had not rushed to welcome me.

I was an engineer who had to work in a garage by the roadside repairing cars to take care of my wife and my daughter… I had to support my family in everything because I was the man of the house and I did not want my wife to look down on me or ever lack because she comes from a rich family and is somehow beginning to slowly withdraw from me, which I could notice too.

Something just did not seem okay about the day… I kept having these heartbeats and strange fears.

“Ah my head.” I heard a voice say out loud, but I ignored it.

“Help!” I heard the same voice following that former statement.

I got up from the chair as I stared about the parlour and then rushed upstairs heading for Esther’s room.

When I opened the door… There to my shock… is Esther over the floor convulsing and struggling for life.

I rushed carrying her from the floor as I stared at her getting panicked as she struggled to regain herself.

I tapped my hand over her back lightly as tears from nowhere began to pour over her pretty young cheeks… Definitely from my eyes.

“Lilian” I screamed for the assistant of my wife as I carried Esther over my arms rushing out from her room as my hair flared through the air while I rushed down from the stairs.

“Lilian!” I screamed out my wife's name for the second time, just for her to come out from the balcony wearing her curvy looking office dress and crop milk top as she stared at me blankly like she could not see who I was carrying over my arms.

Her eyes soon saw Esther over my arms and she still looked like she wasn't moved.

“I can't talk… Let us take her to the hospital.” I said to her as we rushed towards my car.

I handed Esther to her as I started the car's engine speeding off as fast as possible till we had reached a private hospital which was known as one of the best around.

The nurses rushed towards me as they took Esther from my arms as I placed my hand over my head scratching through my hair as I stood watching Esther being placed on a patient bed.

“Be strong for me Esther, please be strong for me.” I begged my daughter over the patient bed as I followed the nurses rushing her to the patient room, and when she was in, I stood outside looking at her as the doctors rushed in to the rescue.

I pulled off my sweaty shirt, hanging it over my neck as I stared at the doctors beginning to revive her from what was wrong, before I wore the shirt again… I was going crazy.

The curtains of the room got dragged away and all I could see were their shadows as I stared with tears in my eyes as one of the doctors walked out from the room towards me.

“Hello Mr. Damon” I heard with my eyes meeting that of a doctor… Nervously waiting for what he had to say.

“Your daughter has been diagnosed with a brain tumour and it needs to be operated out as fast as possible or she will die.” The doctor said to me and I turned to look at Lilian whose mouth was slightly parted in shock.

“How much will the operation cost?” I asked.

“It would cost the sum of five hundred thousand dollars only for the operation to be made.” The doctor immediately replies.

“My god!” I reacted with a troubled mind before I recalled that I had been saving more that amount in my family account so far.

“What? Half a million dollars just for a brain tumour?” Linda says as though she was not interested in our daughter's life.

“Can't you see that it’s critical?” I added and she looked away.

I grabbed my phone, checking my bank app so I could transfer the money just for me to see that the family savings account was empty and my heart immediately stormed in shock.

“Lilian? Look at me, what happened to the family savings?” I asked controlling my breath to sound as nice as possible.

“I used the cash in the account to add up to buy my designer bag and perfumes, remember when I brought the bag home right?” she said as she showed me the bag over her hand.

“I thought your rich family were the ones who bought you those ridiculously expensive things.” I replied back to her before she threw the bag at me as though she had gotten upset.

“Must my family be the one to buy me everything?”

“You can't even afford a car, you have to share my luxury car bought by my dad with me and you think I am supposed to be suffering like this? Fuck you!” she yells, swearing back to me.

It got me upset immediately which made me throw away her bag over the floor as I had become furious.

“So upon you know how hard I work to save for us, you still value material things over our child's life and you have the guts to tell me Fuck you? Really? After spending more than half a million dollars on bags and perfumes!” I said as my heart began to explode in anger as I controlled myself.

“I should not have ever brought myself so low to have ever loved a man like you.” She said to me as I stared back at her, surprised that she was as furious as I had become.

“You know what is pissing me off?” I asked her in return.

“Can you not see that I don’t care about what is pissing you off… I have already bought what I wanted to buy… Yesterday and as you can now perceive the good scent of perfume… I smell good now and I have luxurious designer bags… Don’t you get it?” She says to me rudely and my mouth parts in shock.

“Over your child’s life?” I added.

“She is your child too… I guess… figure it out!” She yells at me.

“Just keep quiet, you don’t deserve anything good if you are this selfish!” I said back to her breaking inside.

“How dare you talk to me in such a manner!” She shouts as she launches a hard slap over my face causing me to hold my cheek in surprise of her change of behaviour.

“Oh Yes! I deserve it Damon!” she shouts gaining attention from the hospital nurses and doctors around who kept silent.

“It's not my fault that I married a poor man!” She screams at me.

“What?” I reacted.

“Yes, I also want a divorce.” She states without even blinking at all as she stares straight up into my eyes.

Lilian is a louzy excuse of a human, making it hard for anyone to believe she was born like every human being. It is more like she was shit from the bowels of hell because she is such a waste. Extremely self absorbed people like her are a drain. It is what it is.
