The Ocean Eyes

ALPHA KING ELRICK

Mate.

Something I have wished for more than anything else. Something I couldn't ever have. 21 years back, to be exact, I made a decision. A decision which shed all of my hopes and expectations.

Yes, I was disappointed. In myself, in my faiths and the goddesses. Because that decision was going to tear me apart. The decision, being that I shall kill my mate the very moment I meet her. Isn't it just ironic and quite cruel? To kill the one you have that you are supposed to love and live for.

I know it is not something that someone would be proud of, but in our ancestry, promises come first of all. And I promised my father and his father and his father, that despite all of the circumstances, I will protect my kingdom, my throne. And she is a threat to all of those promises I need to keep.

From the day I was born to the day of the prophecy, I saved my love, my attention and my body for the one and only female it was meant for. But in the past years, I slept around with numerous females to suppress the longing for her and try to move on from her with someone else. In the beginning, I was drowning in guilt and self- loathe but as the time flew, I blended into my new life style.

My wolf never agreed with me when I touched another females, when I took them. He loathed the touch of anyone but her female. He is an animal that doesn't know nor want to know anything that reasons with him to abandon his female, his moon blessed. He is only a beast with primal instincts. He wants her and only her. I would have wished for the same if the actualities were different, but unfortunately they are not. My wolf needs to learn that we don't always get to have everything we want. Not even the kings. I was convinced to accept my fate.

But now, when she is right here in front of me pressed against the wall, my hands fisting her throat, ready to crush the living soul out of her, Why I couldn't move? Why I couldn't squeeze a little harder? Why I'm staring, as if hypnotized, at the swollen, wide ocean blue eyes of hers? These eyes, so small that I could pick them out with just two of my mere fingers, but so deep that I could drown in them for the eternity. They are so blue... Just like the oceans.

Those frantic eyes were staring right back at me with the same intensity as mine, but they held different emotions in them. While my vision was hazed with dread, sorrow and amazement, hers was emitting panic, disbelief and then determination. Her pupils went still in concentration, like she was snapped out of the daze she was in.

Her feet were dangling up in the air when she brought her knee up and kicked me in the groin. Lords! She is something else. My body curled in agony and my grip loosened on her. She took that chance and flew out of the room from the back door, maybe where she came from. Not wasting any other moment, I dashed out in the halls knotting a cloth at my waist, following her.

In front of my eyes, my mate jumped down from the balcony without any fear or hesitation. Not wishing to let her go, I too dived in the air, out of the window. When I landed on the ground she was climbing the wall, which separated the castle grounds from the forest outside, like a damn monkey. Gods above, I have never seen anyone moving that swiftly and smoothly, let alone any female.

I followed her out on the other side of the wall and into the forest. Her golden hair, braided behind her back, was moving in the air like a slithering snake. Her feet never halted or stammered. She ran with an immense grace and confidence. Everything about her, every movement of hers mesmerised me. She had captured me in a trance. In that moment I was ready to give anything in the world, to see the face of the heavenly creature running in front of me.

She was running exceptionally s

fast for a normal female wolf, but I could tell she wasn't normal, at all. But she was not that fast that I couldn't catch her. I was not even running in my full potent. And I could tell, neither was she. It was like she was contemplating whether she should keep running away from me, or stop to catch a last glance of me. Taking my chances, I pounced on her taking her on the ground, underneath me.

She shifted on her back, now facing me, and struggling beneath me. Her hands and legs were thrashing around me, trying to be free. But she couldn't compete to my strength. No matter how fast and smooth she was, no one and I say no one, can compete the strength of the alpha King. All the while Between the struggle, her blue mesmerizing ocean eye balls never left mine, and neither did I dare to avert my eyes. Taking both of her pale hands in one hand, I pinned them above her heads.

Tingles shot up my whole body from the tip of my fingers to the end of my spine, when my hands met the bare skin of her wrists. I used my other hand to raise it towards her face. I didn't even care if the flimsy cloth, that was barely covering my lower half, fell off. She was my mate. Despite if we have a future or not.

When my hands reached her mask that she was hiding behind, her eyes widened in panic and then her irises gleamed purple. Witch? My mate is a witch? I could tell by her scent that she is werewolf, than how could it be? Before I could make any further questions in my mind, a dagger flew out from where she put it on her waist and pierced my wrist.

Growling in pain I cradled my hand and slowly retracted the dagger out. The wound didn't start to heal as it should have. No doubt, her weapon was coated in wolfsbane. But why would she need it? Was she an assassin, and came here to kill me? No. If that was the case she wouldn't have fled away from me. But maybe she did because she found out that I happened to ber mate.

Before I could capture her again, my mysterious female flew out of my sight, running faster than the god damned wind. I stood up groaning in pain and sniffled for her heavenly scent of jasmine and roses but found it nowhere. I ran for a few miles looking for her but nothing to my luck. Her scent vanished into the thin air like it wasn't even here mere moments ago. She is a witch, so maybe she used magic to mask herself.

I sighed in defeat and headed back to my castle. Maybe it was for good that she ram away she would live little longer. My wolf was howling and pacing around in my mind trying to be set free and look for his female himself. Until next time my friend. You and I are meant to meet again, mate. Whether it be for good or bad, we will meet again.

Even in the crowd of hundreds, I can recognise her anytime, anywhere. Those ocean blue orbs shall haunt me for countless endless night from today on. Until next time.
