CONFESSION.

Chapter 9.

******

Just like every other morning, your head is up, your eyes are opened but you just can't find yourself getting out of bed. With all that has been running through Steven's mind lately, he feels numb so he simply just sat back on the floor. His heart still aches and his body seems to have a mind of its own. Thankfully Lily hasn't called to knock him off about David and whether or not he had called him.

Well guess today wasn't his lucky day because he was getting a call and it was from none other than the precious Lee.

"Hello, uncle Steven!" She sang into the receiver and Steven found himself smiling, she has this aura around her that brightens everything she touched or in his case, speak to.

"Hey, there sweetie! How are you?"

"Fine thank you, how are you?"

"Never been better darling."

"Did you speak to David yet?"

"I'm afraid not, he hasn't taken any of my calls either, I've tried."

"I am so sorry uncle Steve, don't be sad I'm sure he'd come around."

"Yeah! I hope so too. How is your mum?"

"Oh! She is fine and I've got to go, I'll talk to you later sometime."

"Thanks, darling, say hi to mummy for me."

"Sure, I love you!!"

"I love you too baby."

If Steven was feeling terrible before this call, now he felt worse. Steven wished nothing more but for David to just call him so they would put this whole drama behind them. God, I've missed him. Where are you? Why won't you just pick up and talk to me? Steven needed a shower and a really long one at that, so he dragged his lazy self into the bathroom and turned the water on, standing in the middle he let the waters run down his body, the warm water giving him a comforting relief and Steven wanted it to run all the way into his heart and cool off the fire that was beginning to burn his soul bit by bit. Tears mixed with water ran down his face and he could taste the salty moisture from his eyes, Steven ran out of the bathroom before he drowns in the pool of his own tears.

He took one towel and had it wrapped around his waist and another one drying off his head. A knock came on Steven's door as he went into his walk-in closet and since he is half-naked he didn't bother coming out, so Steven called for whoever it was to come right in. Certain is one of the maids, since his mother moved back into her own mansion a few days ago, leaving Steven to get over his pain. He took the boxer brief and put it on while waiting for the person to give their message and leave. But to his greatest disappointment, none came. Well! he might as well go into the bedroom and see who it was.

Maybe an assassin coming to kill him. Wouldn't that be just great! Steven came into the room and he suddenly wishes it was an assassin. His hands grew weak as the towel slipped from his grip and fell on the soft rug. Mouth wide opened, eyes almost falling off their sockets at the sight before him. There is every possibility that he was having a really strange nightmare and Steven didn't like it one bit. He stood there trembling and out of words. Just now he was really hating how David makes him feel, all warm and confused.

"Steven?" He heard David call. maybe this isn't a dream. David is really here in his bedroom on his bed. But how? What is he doing here?.

"Steven I need to talk to you, and why are you staring at me like that?"

"Um, David w- what, h-how, w-why are you here?" Finally, he thought he'd never get those words out.

"I came to see you dumbass."

"M-me?" He came to see me, can you believe that? Well if he's here then this was his chance to talk to David about all that he really needed to talk to him about. Steven owes him that at least, it took everything he has to look into David's eyes, meeting his gaze, David was sitting on his king-sized bed and was looking straight at Steven.

"David I need to tell you something." Steven broke out.

"Wow! He needs to tell me something. Finally, he wants to talk." David said and began his belly-clenching laughing.

"Stop laughing man, I am serious, just listen to me for a minute. I need to tell you this because you might not even want to be my friend afterward. It's just important to listen. This is probably one of the hardest things that I will have to say in my lifetime so I guess, I will just say it. I'm in love with Raya."

By the end of Steven's small speech, he was pacing and near tears, he was thinking that maybe he shouldn't have told David. Steven kept pacing not even wanting to look at David because if he saw disgust or betrayal he'd just let the damn floor open up and swallow him whole. After a while, Steven realized that the room was still quiet and he chanced a glance at David. Steven barely held back a gasp, he had never seen him look so serious. His face was strong and expressionless. He looked like a statue only he was blinking and his jaw was twitching. Steven couldn't take it anymore.

"D, say something or at least do something, punch me or something but don't just sit there." Steven was a bit frantic at this point. He didn't know this would hurt so much. He felt like his heart was wringing itself out.

"How long have you known?"

Steven was expecting David to ask him that, and he needs an answer, if Steven was going to tell him, then he better out with everything.

"I knew from when I first saw her, she took my breath away, I never knew she was your wife at first, and when she told me she was your wife, I got mad at myself for having to be flirting with your wife, I'm sorry David but there is no way I'm supposed to love your wife. I hated myself ever since and I wished so bad that none of these ever happened, you can hate me as much as you want, but I want you to know that I never planned any of those and I never wanted this to happen."

By now they were both emotional and Steven was slumped in a chair while David sat with his head in his hands on Steven's bed.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Not another question from him, but David has to know the whole details and Steven should tell him the truth.

"D-David," Steven started a little bit shaky. "I couldn't a-at first, it was just too confusing having to admit it to myself, but after I was sure, I didn't want to lose a friendship. I was and I am so afraid that you won't want to be my bro anymore."

Damn, Steven was really sweating bullets now, David still hasn't said much and he seemed even more pissed off. Steven sighed inwardly and hope his world as he knew it wouldn't completely crumble around his feet.

"Steven, I felt something wasn't right from the way you were acting around Raya, I saw the way you looked at her and seem lost. I noticed you wouldn't even look at her whenever she was around. I saw all these things and how I never figured it out was what I don't know, it's either you're one smart actor or I was playing blind bat, but in all, I am still your brother, you should have trusted me enough to tell me, maybe we would have found a way around this whole situation. Instead, you choose to run away like you always do, just until when would you stop running and face things head up like a man. You should know I love you and I always want you to be happy, Raya is my wife and I love her very much. We will fix this Steven, I promise."

All through David's speech, Steven had to keep reminding himself that his jaw didn't belong on the floor. So David didn't care, well what would you know? Steven was in crash mode from the Adrenaline high that he was feeling. He didn't know whether to jump for joy or break down crying or pass out. Eventually, he just stayed rooted to his seat.

"We need to tell the mother's about this," David told him.

"My mother already knows about this, she wouldn't stop asking and I had to tell her at some point."

"So! You're telling me that my mum already knew about this whole thing?"

Steven just winked at him and gave out a little smile, David smiled back at him and that was a good sign, just before he pulled Steven off the chair that has saved him from falling to his death if he wasn't seated on it this whole time. Before Steven could say anything David threw him on the bed and gave him a hard but playful punch here and there. Steven tried breaking free but David wouldn't let him escape.

"Don't you ever run away from me again!”

Steven just nodded to that, he knew his eyes were bloodshot, but he still smiled because at least he hadn't lost a brother.
