Three

"Master, I don't think he will come," this was coming from Arlo, who is throwing small rocks at the river.

"You want me to kidnap him, Master?" Saye chirps as if that is something someone should do, but she's a demon. They don't care what they do, but since I'm their Master, they must listen to me.

"Don't even think about it, Saye," I warn.

"It's just a suggestion." She shrugs, then says, "but Master, I never knew you lived in a werewolf pack. You aren't a werewolf."

"Yeah, I was shocked as well," Arlo said and threw the last rock.

"I guess I'll tell you the short version of it," I cross my arms. "That pack's retired alpha found me. I was raised by them and fell in love with their son. I learned I'm wolfless. But because unfortunate events occur that involve me, everyone hates me." I don't particularly appreciate talking about my past. Now that I'm reborn, I don't want to mention primary outcomes when it involves me being accused of murder and dying at the hands of the man I love.

"So, I left," I continue. "I broke up with their son, left the pack, and here I am."

It's a fairytale story, but I didn't want to tell the extended version. Saye and Arlo stay quiet, and I look once more at my watch. Ten minutes before one hour is up, I give it up.

"Well, I expected much," I stretch my arms over my head. "We need to head to Japan before sunrise."

"Yes, Master," the twins say in unison.

Before we can teleport ourselves to our next destination, I hear a twig snap, and that sweet scent fills my nose. I turn my head to find a dark figure hiding behind the trees, but my eyes glow red to prepare for an attack until I swallow his scent.

My heart stopped and my mind went crazy. The alluring scent I had smelled earlier is coming off from him.

No...no...no!

My inner thoughts are screaming in my brain that is about to explode by this sudden startle.

Oh, fuck!

Dominic appears before us as the moon shines; his greatness makes my whole body want to respond to his presence.

Oh god! What the fuck is going on?

Seeing Dominic after one year makes my whole body tremble with delight. My heart is racing, and my entire body is getting warm. Besides his alpha aura presenting himself before me, it's just his wholeness before my eyes. I couldn't help but stare at him.

After one year, Dominic has become the man I've been dreaming of ever since our first encounter as kids. My dream of being his perfect mate had come true but with consequences. In my past life, I achieved my imagination, but in reality, that dream was shattered.

Did he grow a bit bigger, or did his muscle?

I glance down at his pants, and I pinch my lips and feel my face heat.

"Master, you're turning red," Saye whispers in my ear. I cringe and clear my throat.

"It's been a while, Dominic, or should I say Alpha," I straighten my back and sound serious, not wanting to be intimated by his aura, incredibly how fucking hot he got.

Stop, Lippy!

"Malik told me you came by and needed to talk about something urgent," his tone is that of a leader, but behind it seems he doesn't want to see me. He glares at the two demons behind me with no trust in them.

Go figure.

No 'hello Calliope' or 'how are you, Calliope?' or 'how's life outside the pack, Calliope?'

Nope, he has gone straight to the point.

Asshole prick.

I dig through my jacket pocket and throw the item at him. He caught with a reflex. He opens his hand and looks down at the necklace.

His brows furrow, and he knew he recognized it. "Where did you get this?"

"Answer mine first, What was Wallace doing at the swamp?" Ignoring his question.

"I don't know what he does. I don't keep track of his every move."

I scoff.

Such a prick.

"You need to warn your pack not to step foot at the swamp," I explain. "The swamp is clouded with the miasma that anyone close to it will become a feral."

"Feral?" He questions the word. "What are you talking about?"

Did he or anyone in the pack live under a rock?

"Have you not known what is going on for the past two months?"

Judging by his handsome facial confusion, I guess he doesn't know.

I groan and rub my face.

"Wallace and whoever he was with went to the swamp. They all turned feral" before coming to the Blue Moon Pack territory, and there was a campfire and empty beer cans. It seems Wallace and his friends were having a peaceful night, not knowing the miasma lingers there. By the time I got there, three of his friends were mauled. As if they were butchered with so much anger.

It was gruesome.

"Inhaling the miasma turns them feral," I explain.

"Okay, so where is he? Why do you have his necklace?" Going back to the first question he asks from the start of this conversation.

"He's...dead, and so a few of his friends. I don't know where the others are, but my guess is they are roaming around the forest looking for their next victim."

That part is actual. Telling him that I killed him would make it much more worst. "I know how you and Leah are together now, but her brother should not have gone near the swamp just to party."

"We are not together," Dominic declares, his jaw clenched and his fist tightening by his side.

"What?"

"I said, Leah and I aren't together." He made it loud and clear as if I didn't hear him the first time.

Part of me is relieved, but the other part doesn't care who he gets together with. He can fuck somebody I don't even know for all I care. Though my heartfelt swollen for a bit.

But I left him and the pack three days before the Blood Rite. I assumed he had marked Leah as his mate and Luna, but it seems that didn't happen.

Why do I feel so relieved?

"Master," Arlo walks up behind me. "We must go."

"Right, we have to go," I lost track of time.

"Hey," Dominiboomedom his voice at, specifically at Arlo. "Calliope and I are talking. Who are you to touch her so freely? You stay as far away from her." His eyes flash a glow of red, presenting that he is alpha.

"I only listen to Master as I serve her," Arlo then hugs behind me, making Dominic angrier, which got me confused as to why he's angry. "You are a stranger and the one who hurt my Master. You are lucky I didn't chop you up in pieces." I can feel his anger rising and his magic emerging. I saw dark blue illuminating his body.

I know Dominic is alpha now and the strongest among his pack, but if he were to take on a demon who lived longer, the results wouldn't do any good.

"Arlo, stop, leave him alone," I demand, it made him subdue his magic, and he pouts, but he will never let me go. Dominic looks like he is ready to attack Arlo.

"Alpha Dominic," saying his proper title, "I'm sorry for my attendant's behavior towards you. He only did that because he is very protective."

"Where did you meet such a guy like him, Lippy?" My body flinches, and my heart skips a beat from the nickname he gave me when we were little because the name Calliope was foreign to him.

I can't believe he would call me by the nickname he has given me. What is he trying to do? Give our relationship another shot?

I shake my questioning thoughts away. "Warn your pack about the swamp. It's not just wolves who will turn feral. The results are the same if any human gets in contact with me. Until I find the source, no one steps near that swamp."

"Find the source? Are you leaving to go wherever you were supposed to go? And why do you have to do it? Isn't it dangerous for you too?"

Why does he sound so worried?

He never acted like that before in my past life.

"First of all, I can give you one full answer. I'm the only person who can go near the swamp." I start to explain and brush a strain of my hair back. "As you already know, I'm wolfless. That is because I have demon blood in me. A demon caused the miasma so, I can't get ineffective."

His eyes grew wide, now understanding why Saye and Arlo are by my side.

"A demon?" He whispers the word.

"More specifically, I'm a fox demon. Shocking isn't it. I didn't know myself until I found these two. They are also demons and told me what I am." I state, pointing to the twins behind me. Dominic had his eyes on me the whole time as I was explaining. "Anyways, I was in denial at first, but it explains why I couldn't shift though not to a wolf, but I'm not going to show you."

Is he just standing there, not saying anything? Well, it's hard to believe, but Saye and Arlo are living proof.

I sigh.

"Until I find whoever releases the miasma, you and the pack stay out of the swamp. It's not my concern if they don't listen to me, but if to you, after all, you are their alpha," damn, I sound like the bitch he knew. "But if you don't want anybody to become inhuman monsters, I suggest you listen to my warning."

I know he won't believe me, but at least he should try and be convinced.

I turn my back to him.

"I know you won't trust me because of our history. But that necklace is proof of that predicament. Let me know if any one of your packs is infected. My farmhouse is near Big Lake. I must go." I turn to face him. Saye waved a flirty goodbye, and Arlo glared at him, giving him the finger. "Goodbye, Alpha Dominic," I say my farewell, the same from the day I left him speechless.

Looking over my shoulder, I unleash a wave of my magic, the color of black and blue flames swirling around me as I teleport out, leaving Dominic to himself like before.
