The rescue(1)

Rachel watched as the girl she assumed was Kira(The name she read in the paper) lay sprawled on the couch.

Kira was not sleeping; Rachel was aware of that.

The screen of her phone illuminated her oval-shaped face, and she wondered what she was doing.

"Mama," Her eyes flickered away from Kira's to meet her son, Jerry.

The light in the room had gone dim. She didn't know how but she heard Kira snap her fingers and mutter something. Yet, she could still make out where he was huddled.

"It's past bedtime," Jerry said.

Rachel imagined his black eyes darting from hers to Kira, who was on the couch.

"Go ahead," She gave him a tight-lipped smile.

"You should listen to your child," Kira chimed in. "We have a long day tomorrow, and you might need to sleep to conserve your energy."

Rachel nodded and heaved a breath. Her eyes darted to her son; he had come near her. She gripped his hand, "You should sleep."

She mumbled, pointing towards the door with a blue colour.
