Daddy Knows Too Much

The girls met at the Watering Hole for wings and music for their weekly ritual of dancing to live music, eating spicy wings, loaded potato skins, and drinking beer.

That was as rowdy as they got in rebellion into their restrictive lives. They were single and members of local packs.

With their meal done, the dancing began. Jules asked Amber Mills, daughter of the Blue Dalia Pack Alpha. “Amber, what’s with your cousin Ty and his friend? Why haven’t we met them before?” Jules thought she kept things light.

“You met them? Gods, you shouldn’t have. They’re trouble, especially for you both. Stay away from them. I can’t say more. They plan on messing with the status quo. Both your fathers and you are his target. I don’t want to see either of you hurt. Don’t get involved, please. If you value your lives as they are.” That’s where Amber went wrong. Neither woman was content with their life. Those men were a welcome and enticing distraction.

Heather popped into the conversation when she slapped her glass on the table. “Stay away. All the catty witches will start fighting over them. Sit back and let the competition take themselves out. Those two will take any women mixed up with them down when they fall. They are trouble on two or four legs. Sexy trouble, but trouble.”

Heather’s words annoyed Rose. Heather was always a little jealous. She was the daughter of the Rolling Meadows Pack Healer. Rose knew Heather didn’t believe she belonged. She believed her father’s position made her less than, but they didn’t care. So, Amber had to drag Heather to these events.

Rose grabbed her drink and took a swig. So, she could drown the warning growl. Annoyed by Heather noticing how attractive Ty was. She knew this wasn’t a normal attraction. Why would she care if someone liked a stranger? Her brain came back for one reason. Mate. She could feel her body welcome at that thought, and she panicked. “Excuse me. I need the bathroom. Mind my drink, I’ll be back.”

She threw herself from her chair and rushed away. While in the bathroom, she splashed water on her face and thought long about how she overreacted to this. While drying her hands, Rose’s cellphone rang. Frowning, the girls would have just followed her into the bathroom to talk.

It was her father. If she didn’t answer, he’d keep calling or send someone to fetch her. “Hello, father. To what do I owe this call? Contact twice in one day.”

“Don’t cop that attitude with me. I hear you met a boy named Tyler. Stay away from him. He’s trouble and I’ll deal with him. Don’t let him mess with your head. You’re set for better things than him.” Rose had to make sure she was talking to her father and not imagining it. What did he mean she was set for better things? What did he have plans for that entailed her? How dare he mess like that with her life?

“Father. I won’t let any man mess with my life if I don’t want it. You should know me better.” Rose used a reassuring tone with a smile for her response.

“Good. The Russels have always been in trouble. It happened again.” The score he’d miss the fact she lumped him into ‘any man’. Wait, always been trouble? She didn’t remember the Russels. Who were the Russels?

“Fine. Can I go back to enjoying a girl’s night out?” She’d have to talk to the others and see if they could shed some light on it.

“Mind your behaviour. I don’t want to hear you’ve been acting out and embarrassing the pack.” The pack wasn’t embarrassed, when would he be honest? Rose hung up in disgust at how transparent he was.

She was tucking her phone away as she left the bathroom and walked into someone. “Hey, there. I was getting worried you were taking too long in here.” Said a now familiar voice.

“Ty! Hi, sorry. Oh!” He gave her another one of those hot grins of his while he expertly moved her against the wall.

“Better now that I have you to myself. Now, Rose Angles, daughter of the Hollow Wood Pack Alpha. You and I need to have a talk, sweetheart.” Rose wasn’t sure what they had to talk about. Her brain was stuck on the feel of his body pressing her against the coolness of the wall. One of his thighs was between her thighs, pinning her to the wall.

“About what?” He leaned in as she asked, forcing her to arch her head to the side and bare her throat. This intimacy was having a potent effect on her. She heard him breathe in deep and slowly. Savouring her scent. He was memorizing her scent. If her heart rate hadn’t spiked yet, it did now. She was all but helpless. His size made it almost impossible to push him away.

“We'll start with the number of days you’ve left as an unmated wolf. Hmm.” She could feel his hot breath on her throat, his scent enveloped her. Her head spun from her physical reaction. Gods, he did things to her without trying. Then he did something that made her let him do as he wanted. That Alpha tone, he used it. Her father used it enough for her to be familiar. “We’re going to kiss, and you’ll enjoy it. Gods, your scent will be addictive.” His lips came down on hers, kissing like he was starving, and she was his last meal. She enjoyed her first kiss, and his hands moved from her wrist to her body. If he wasn’t kissing her, she might have begged him for more than a kiss.

“Well, I’ll add this cozy scene to the conversation I’ll have with your father.” The cattiest voice Rose ever heard triumphantly announced. “Howie told me you were getting cozy earlier. I see it now. Well, your father will deal with you.” The woman actually smacked her gum at the end. Her frizzy burned orange-red hair was like a helmet on her head.

Rose couldn’t see what Anita offered, with her smoker’s teeth and layers of makeup, and Rose wasn’t sure what was happening with the woman’s over-processed hair. It didn’t move.

“Woman, it’s not the old man you need to fear. It’s time for you to leave. Go ahead, tell the old man his daughter is mine. I’ll enjoy seeing him run in fear.”

Anita cackled as Ty moved away from Rose and his whole person changed. Shifted. He was the big bad Alpha in the room. Anita’s laughter died as he steps between the women. “As you wish.” She absolutely fled after that.

“I wish you didn’t do that. You’ve made everything worse.” Rose said, straightening up from the wall, already missing the warm welcome pressure of his body. What was she thinking?

“They don’t have a clue about what I want. Just bide your time and let me handle it.”

“You don’t understand. He’ll punish me. I won’t be able to live without being watched.”

“You’ll bide your time, and I’ll make sure no harm comes to you, my sweet mate.” What did she say to that without sounding like a fool?

“Ty, we gotta go. There’s trouble with the guys.”

“Guys?” Rose thought there was just Ty and Ben. There’s more? Gods, this was trouble, and she knew she’d keep her mouth shut, or this could become a war.
