Chapter 1

Grayson:

I wake up and stare into the abyss for a good 20 min, before finally getting up. I brush my teeth and hair, clean my face, put on my clothes, and grab my bag. Can't forget the most important part : putting on my contact lenses. 

I don't actually have bad eyesight. I wear brown eye contacts because I really dislike my eye color. Bright, almost neon green. I get stares wherever I go. I got made fun of a lot for it too. Other kids treated me like an alien. A lot of people say it's scary, and hate making eye contact with me. As I grew older, I started to hate it too.

Anyways, back to the point. I hop into my car and drive to school, stopping to get coffee even though I'm already late. As I walk into my biology class, I notice that the only seat left is the one next to Alex Redwood. The school's biggest player. He's also a fellow werewolf, just like me. Yeah, I forgot to mention that I'm a werewolf. 

Anyways, I plop down on the seat, letting all my books fall onto the desk. The class was a blur (since I was like 40 mins late). Everyone rushed out when the bell rang, except for Alex. I get up to leave, but he grabs my wrist. 

"Your name's Grayson, right?" I pull my hand away from his grip.

"Yeah." I mumble boringly.

"Wanna go out with me? I'm free tomorrow," He says with a wink. 

"Oh I wish I could, but I don't want to." I storm out of the classroom without hearing his response. A few minutes later, I feel a tap on my shoulder as I'm taking my stuff from my locker. When I turn around, Alex pins my wrists above my head, making my notebooks fall. 

"Babe, I don't like it when you talk to me like that. What if we end up becoming mates?" He whispered in my ear. I knee him 'where the sun don't shine' and pick up my notebooks. He grunts in pain, falling on his knees and holding his junk. 

"Don't worry, I'm sure we'll never be mates," I say as I run to my math class. The rest of my day went by fast. Nothing fun, just school. As I got home, I smell something delicious. I run to the kitchen, and see my aunt baking brownies. 

"Oooh, brownies! And wow, you're home early," I say to my aunt. Me and my sister live with my aunt Cassie ever since our parents died...

"Yeah, I'm taking a week off from work. Do these brownies smell good?" My aunt asks me. I nod my head.

"Yup! It smells sooo good, at first I thought it was my mate!" I exclaim. She just laughs. 

"Hey, speaking of mates, the Alpha and Luna of the Midnight Royalty Pack are throwing a ball for their son, Prince Gabriel, on Saturday," She tells me.

"Who cares?" I reply, shoving a brownie in my face. She furrowed her brows. 

"What if you turn out to be his mate?" She asks. I shrug.

"I'll just reject-" She cuts me off:

"NO! You cannot reject an Alpha! You should never reject your mate! He's your other half," She yells. 

"Chill, I already have my other half," I say, motioning at my body.

"I'm a full person, not just half," I state. She rolls her eyes.

"You know what I meant. Anyways, where's your sister?" She asks.

"Oh shit. I left her at school!" I yell as I start running outside, into my car, with a brownie in my mouth. I drive to school, and see Adrianna sitting on the bench outside, pouting. I stop the car in front of her, and unlock the doors. She hops in, glaring at me.

"Yo, I'm sorry, I totally forgot about your existence," I say truthfully. She rolls her eyes and looks outside, while I drive back home. I run inside, grabbing another brownie. My sister walks in, still pouting.

"Aww, my poor little baby," Aunt Cassie says, hugging her. I just keep eating my brownies. I notice a paper stuck on the fridge. It was about the werewolf soccer match on Friday. And today is Thursday...

"Fuck!" I curse out of nowhere. My aunt and sister both raise an eyebrow at me.

"I completely forgot about my soccer tournament tomorrow!" I yell. They both roll their eyes.

"Chill, it's not that big of a deal," Adrianna says. 

"Yes it is!!!" I exclaim, stomping towards my room. I slam the door and fall back on my bed. After a moment of laziness, I decide to get my soccer stuff ready for tomorrow.

Cleats: check!

Shin guards: check!

Long soccer socks: check!

Water bottle: check!

I don't really need much, since they'll give me the soccer jersey and shorts there. I quickly do my homework, and go downstairs to watch N*****x. Adrianna is currently watching 'The Lion King'. I didn't complain; I love Disney movies.

"Dinner's ready!" Aunt Cassie yells from the kitchen. I dash to the dining table, and see a glorious plate of Mac and cheese. I dig in, filling myself up with the cheesy melty goodness. Aunt Cassie and Adrianna look at me like I'm from another planet. I shrug and continue to eat.

After dinner, I walk to my room, and take a hot shower. I get changed into an oversized shirt and my underwear, before crawling on my bed. After a few moments (ok, maybe a few hours) of checking social media, I fall asleep.

The next morning, I decide to go to school with my soccer equipment, so I don't have to get them after school. Seeing that I'm actually up early today, I grab some pop-tarts and start toasting them. I make some for Adrianna too, as an apology for forgetting her at school yesterday.

After we finish eating breakfast, we say goodbye to Aunt Cassie and hop in my car. 

It was another boring day. We went to school, learned shit, and now I'm driving back home to drop off Adrianna. 

"Bye!" She yells at me as I drive away. The Midnight Royalty Pack wasn't quite far from my pack, the Starry Night Pack. It's about a 25 minute drive.
