Chapter 6. Amy is sick

The nanny shook her head and sighed: "Originally, he was a cheerful and lively person when he was young. But after witnessing his whole family being killed, his personality completely changed."

She was dumbfounded, she didn't expect Jake's past to be so painful. No child can't help but be haunted by the sight of his whole family being killed. At that time he was just a child, losing his family was not easy.

His current personality is the result of past trauma. He must have hated the man who killed his family.

Now she understood why yesterday when he saw the rusty swing he had such a reaction. It was because she was too careless, she shouldn't have led him there, shouldn't have delved into his painful past.

Until the nanny brought the food to the table, she was still immersed in her thoughts.

The nanny gently shook her hand: "What's wrong? Where are you unwell?"

She woke up startled, shook her head, and said: "I'm fine. I'm just thinking about some things."

"Do you miss your parents?"

She nodded vaguely: "Yes. It's been a long time since I've been here, so I miss my parents."

"Have you been feeling well lately?"

"I'm fine. Thank you for taking care of me every day."

"So good. Eat up, if you're well then Mr. Jake will take you home."

When it came to going home, she hesitated to answer. Being here for a long time, she is nostalgic for everything here. She was familiar with every tree and grass here, and the scenery around her was found. She feels a sense of peace, a relaxed soul every morning when she wakes up. She couldn't bear to leave her loving nanny, she couldn't bear to leave Jake.

He is like the cold lonely moon in the sky that does not allow anyone to come near. She wanted to be the star, able to break the distance, step clobeingr to be his friend.

But her parents are waiting for her at home, she can't help but return to the place that belongs to her. And here, although nostalgic, though unwilling, she doesn't belong, she can't leave her parents to live here for the rest of her life.

The nanny saw her thoughts and gently comforted her: "If you have free time, you can come back here to visit grandma."

Her eyes were bright, and she happily asked: "Is it true?"

"Really. She will wait for you."

All that day, she sat in front of the door, holding a gift box she had meticulously prepared to wait for Jake to return. She waited until the sun went down from the mountain, it was completely dark, the lights in the palace were bright, but still, there was no sign of him.

She couldn't wait any longer, she stepped out into the yard to look and wait for him.

Her wait finally paid off. Seeing him return from afar, she quickly ran out to meet him.

She stood in front of him, shyly giving the gift she had prepared for him: "Happy birthday to you."

He neither accepted nor said a word. She awkwardly explained: "I heard it's your birthday today, so I prepared a gift, this is also a gift to thank you for saving me. I hope you take it."

Seeing him still standing motionless, her hand stretched out tired, the gift box became heavy. She looked at him sadly, he finally opened his mouth to talk: "I don't accept it."

"Why?"

"I don't celebrate birthdays."

"But I can't deny the day my parents gave birth to me. My mother would be very sad if she was still alive."

Mentioning his parents made his face change, his cold and scary expression made her unconsciously step back.

His cold murderous face seemed to consider her an enemy. She stammered and lowered her head: "I'm sorry. I'm talkative, I shouldn't have mentioned your past."

He glanced at her and then walked towards the palace, before leaving and also reminded her: "Next time don't do what you want. I don't need your pity."

She shouted: "I don't pity you."

He stopped walking and looked at her nonchalantly: "You lied. Your eyes say it all, that you are pitying me."

"I'm sorry."

"Stop apologizing. Apologizing won't solve anything."

She persisted: "But I just want to give you a present."

He bluntly replied: "I don't need it."

Seeing that he refused to accept it, she quickly stuffed the gift box into his hand and ran away.

Before she had run far, she heard the sound of things falling on the brick floor. She turned her head to look, the gift box she stuffed into his hand was mercilessly thrown to the ground.

She angrily asked him with tears: "What are you doing? How can you throw my gift on the ground? Did you know I stayed up all night to make it?"

Saying that she knelt on the ground to pick up the statue.  She brushed the dust off the statue, took a closer look, and discovered that the statue was not broken, she was relieved to breathe a sigh of relief.

She stood up, gritted her teeth, and said: "I hate you. You don't deserve my gift. An obnoxious person like you will be forever alone for the rest of your life."

After she left, he was left alone in the windy night sky. That's right, people like him don't deserve to be loved. People like him are destined to be alone until they die.

Returning to her room, she reluctantly placed the statue on the table. She was really angry, she was angry because he did not know how to appreciate her gift, she was angry because he was cold and did not open his heart to her.

He was so insensitive that she couldn't stand it. She knew he was lonely, so she wanted to get close to him and talk to him. But he didn't need her, he built himself a towering wall. He locked himself in there, he didn't want her to drag him out of this mud.

As a girl, she also has self-respect. If she had been rejected outright like that, then from tomorrow she wouldn't care, and wouldn't wait for him to return. Because he didn't keep her, now even if he lost it, don't look for it.

For the next few days, she did not see him again. Or rather, she had been in her room all day to avoid seeing him. That embarrassing thing happened that day, she didn't want to see him.

For the past few nights, she couldn't sleep, and in the morning she was tired and stretched out on the table, breathing weakly. Now her headache, her throat burned, and her body was exhausted.

She feels sick. At breakfast, she tried hard so that the nanny wouldn't notice her abnormality. When she got to her room, she was so tired that she stretched out on the table.

It is summer now but her whole body is sweating cold, her face is red, and her whole body is shivering from the cold. She struggled to get up, slowly walked over to the bed, and lay down covered in blankets from head to toe. Only then could she soothe her coldness.

She drifted off to sleep. In her dream she had nightmares. There was a giant monster chasing her, she kept running until she was startled by her nanny calling her up. She opened her eyes dreamily, it was already dark outside. But she slept until the night, she was just about to open her mouth to talk when a dry cough came and made her cough until she blushed.

The nanny stroked her back and poured her a glass of water. After she finished drinking, the nanny gently asked: "Why didn't you tell grandma when you were sick?"

Her voice was hoarse, and she replied softly: "I'm fine. Don't worry, it's just a mild cold."

"It's not mild. You have a high fever, which worries me."

"I'm sorry for making you worry."

The nanny saw that she was having trouble, and while wiping her body, she asked: "Are you having trouble?"

"How do you know that?"

"Look in your eyes and I'll know."

She sighed: "She said this just like Jake said."

"Huh?"

"Oh, it's nothing."

"Last month I was seriously injured and it was difficult to get well. Now no matter what happens, I have to take care of myself."

"I know. I was too careless."

"All right. How do you see yourself?"

"My headache is gone, I no longer feel cold, and my body is no longer tired. I slept but woke up and recovered from my illness, it's really good."

The nanny laughed: "While I was sleeping, my grandmother gave me medicine, so when I woke up, I was fine."

She smiled shyly: "I see. I thank you for helping me."

The nanny reached out to touch her forehead, feeling that her temperature had returned to normal, then she was reassured, before leaving, she also advised: "You stay in the room to recover well, if you need anything, just ask someone outside to do it. Don't go out lest you get poisoned by the wind, you'll get sicker."

"Yes. Go back to your room to rest."

"Good night."
