3 - The Desire

ERA’S POV

I knocked on the door first before entering. At first, I only saw a lab coat hanging. But when I walked in, I saw Sir writing on his table. Ugh! Why do I keep running into him today?!

“Miss Ponciano? Is your class finished? Let’s go—"

Wow. Why is he in a hurry?

“N- Not yet! I'm just looking for... Ma'am Can. She is not yet in the lab. She’s our professor for today.”

“I think she is in a meeting today. I didn't tell you earlier, sorry. Just get your classmates’ signatures then you are free to go.”

He handed me an attendance sheet. Perhaps he didn't intend to touch my hand but... there was still a startling jolt. Maybe the current in my body is just really strong. It's still early in the morning for this, Era.

But why haven't the other people I've touched before had such a strong impact on me? Why only on him?

“Just go to the parking lot. I’ll wait you there—"

“Sir... are you really sure of what you are about to do? Aren’t you just going crazy or what? Because it's like punching the moon to find a shallow job with a heavy salary. Just say it, Sir, do I have to do anything other than being your maid?”

Better to be direct. I'm terrified of his offer. Really terrifying. What kind of person would spend that much money on a vagabond like me?

“Extra? Why? Do you wish to do so?"

"S- Sir, uh, don't be such a jerk..." I softly speak, with my voice cracking because of nervousness.

"Why would I demand such a thing? I just asked you to clean my house, cook food, separate garbage, and wash dishes like a maid; why do you expect such filthy behavior?"

I didn't say anything dirty; I just said something extra. Why is he so defensive?

"Also, when I see them personally, your parents will understand it better. It's better for me to speak to them or it will take you forever to tell them about this." I sighed out of nowhere and wondered if I could punch him. I just want to give him a souvenir.

I went back to the classroom with the blank attendance sheet he gave me. It’s making me weak, thinking that I’ll be a maid.

“Guys, Ma'am Canellie seems to be in a meeting. Just sign here for your attendance.”

Their eyes start to sparkle as they heard my announcement. What a typical student. Who would not want this kind of set-up? No professor, no activities to be passed, neither a quiz to think about. It’s quite nice to relax.

"YOOO!"

“Thank God we’re leaving the campus!”

"That's a good one, Pressy!"

F*ck you, with all due respect, I'm not Pressy. Era is my name. I'll beat you if I have the chance.

Because they were fools to begin with, they surrounded the pathetic paper that was given to me. I was just waiting in the corner, quietly staring at them as if they were idiots. Like they thought they couldn't come home early. Worthless scums.

"Bye!"

"We're going now, Era!"

They have left me with their freaking annoying smiles on their faces. Every single one of them has left me alone. Hmm, “’Kay. It's up to you."

I signed the representative's signature and wrote the date today. The lab was a mess, so I better clean it first before I leave the building with the attendance sheet.

Hold on. Will I actually wait in the school parking lot or will I go home?

I jumped to the side when suddenly someone blew a car's horn. Holy sh*t! Why is he here so quickly?!

“I told you to wait in the parking lot. Tsk. Hop in.”

He's so persistent, my god! What? Will you let him come with you, Era? It's not a fake taxi, it's Sir Mik. But still! Why does he want me to be his maid?!

“If you haven't boarded in the count of three, I'll go to your house first. One two—"

"Yes! Yes! I'm going!”

I immediately opened the door and stepped inside. He rolled up the window and I got the chance to inhale the reek of the fragrant scent of his car. It's not hard nor painful to the nose. Just right for stressed like me.

"Type the address on the monitor so you don't have to teach me how to get there."

I was in the middle of typing when what I wanted to reveal to him entered my brain. I'm desperate to find out. My tongue really itches to speak.

"Sir, are you really sure what you're about to do?" His eyebrows furrowed in response to what I was asking. Obviously, he is insane.

"Why not?"

“Because honestly, Sir, it's not really realistic. What is your real purpose? What do you want from me?”

“Why won’t you just type your address? A simple task doesn’t require a query, you know?”

Our trip was dead quiet. I was simply gazing out the window. The heck, what about later? Presumably, my father will suddenly punch Sir. I know Dad isn't that kind of person, but when you think negatively, you can produce the wildest daydream.

"We're here."

I was shocked, seeing our house. Oh, well, heck with it. We are just across the alley from my house. I'm nervous as he drives near the compound.

“Do you want me to go on your behalf? Looks like you don't want to get out of the car.”

I hurriedly unbuckled the seatbelt that was fastened around my waist. Is Sir suffering from multiple personality disorder? Earlier he was just smiling, now he's frowning at me. So, I'm still really at fault for this situation he chose?!

I started to walk down the dark alley. I feel like he was just following me, obviously just messing around with my feelings.

"Oh, no! My baby has already arrived—"

I'm dead! Why did Dad hold the door open for us?! And he's still recovering! Why did they discharge him already?!

“D- Dad, this is Sir Mikhail. He is my professor. Is Mom here?”

I let Sir in, while Dad just gaped looking at him. What's going on inside Dad's head? Hold on! Shouldn't that be the question I'm asking myself?! Why do I have my professor in our house?!
