Coversations in the night

Percy

I knew that he would probably find me before I left his town. The truth is that a chance for me to slip in and out unnoticed from this heavily secured town was close to zero.

I checked on Madeline one more time, hoping that the heavy dosage will be enough to keep her down, well at least until I would reach my territory.

I took one last deep breath, happy to feel her scent fill my lungs.

Her scent had a calming effect on me. For the last three years I became a beat that would rip anyone to shreds if he was challenged in any way. Day by day it got worse, to the point that I almost beat the shit out of my beta and gamma for not agreeing with me.

The messed up part of that is, that they are right.

I was wrong and I was pissed at them for not submitting to me.

I pushed the conflicting thoughts out of my head and headed to meet the man that can either mess my plan up or save me a lot of trouble.

Emanuel is the only other true alpha I know of. He, differently to me, had a father to learn from. He grew up with a family in a happy home, from what i gathered, but just as his father, he hated and was disliked in the alpha council.

But the man had more power then all of them and he had dirt on them so bad that they hid from him with their tails between their legs.

After his father died from a rogue wolf attack, I am pretty sure that the council planned it, he got approached by them, making it clear that they wanted his land and for him to submit to the council without a place at the table.

He of course refused, no alpha with power as great as his would agree to this and not the true alpha for sure.

He not only refused but had a lengthy conversation with the head of the council and they immediately retreated.

So I know that this conversation won't be an easy one.

“Good evening, Percy. Isn’t it a bit late for a midnight drive?”

Standing right here in front of him I felt the urge to show my dominance, but guessing by the team surrounding us it wasn’t the best idea.

“Evening, Emanuel. Yes, I guess it is a bit late. That is why my little mate is actually asleep.”

His face was telling me that he wasn’t buying any of this.

“Yes… your mate. Might I ask what the hell are you doing here… and with Madaline?”

With a nod of his head he motioned to one of his men. To no surprise he moved closer to the car and to my own surprise I released a low growl. The man stopped instantly.

I felt Emanuels heavy hand on my shoulder as he noonder for the man to continue.

“Please control yourself, Percy. He is just checking if she is alive.”

When the man pulled his head  out of the car and nodded, Emanuel relaxed a little. To my surprise, the further the other man moved from the car, the more relaxed I became.

“So, Percy. Why are you here?”

I turned back to him and saw a different look on his face, this one was curious. I knew that laying won’t do any of us good, so I told him the truth.

“I am here because of her.”

I could feel his eyes searching my face for hidden answers.

“I came to take her home.”

He looked at my eyes for a second until his whole demeanor changed.

“The council knows it's her?”

I swallowed hard, of course he knew what she was doing… So the only question is why did he let her continue?

“If they knew it was her, it wouldn’t be me standing here, especially because they know she is my mate. They are completely in the dark about it. I am the one in charge of finding the killer, so they will never know.”

He studied me for a moment then released a pent up breath. He lifted a hand and the whole team around us disappeared.

Now that we were alone, he no longer looked like the alpha, but like a worried brother.

“I tried talking to her, after the council started asking questions. At first I thought that it would help her to get over the whole shit they made her go through, but that is far from the truth. She no longer is up for revenge, she wants to cleanse the world.”

I could see how stiff he was and how worried he was about her. He turned to the car and stared at it for a moment.

“She is on a road to self destruction and I can’t stop her. She refuses to listen to me and you might know how frustrating it is.”

The sad smile on his face told me that he was a bit relieved that he will no longer be the one incharge of her. But his face got serious for a moment.

“She needs you to tame her and if you hurt her again, there won’t be a place in this world that you will be able to hide in. I will find you and make you regret the day you were born.”

The coldness in his voice was a bit chiling, but I didn’t let him intimidate me.

“I will take care of her and keep her safe, even if I need to lock her up until she understands and shit dies down.”

When he heard my words his face relaxed.

“Let's say I trust you. You should get going, before the council tracks you down for entering the enemy territory.”

I nodded and walked to the car, to my luck she was still out and Emanuel disappeared from the road, so I started the car and left his town.

Sure Emanuel is a mean motherfucker to cross but I can see that he cares for her in the most platonick family way and it makes him one of the good guys.

It took me almost twenty minutes to reach the edge of my lads as I felt a cold blade against my neck.
