Chapter 2

Trevor POV

"You're my mate. I don't give a fuck who your Father is" I told her. And i didn't care. The want and need to have this woman as mine was stronger than any other feeling I'd ever had before. I wanted to protect her at all costs. It was like love at first sight. What I really wanted was to rip all of her clothes off and make love to her right here on the floor. But, I restrained my urges because I wanted to respect her, and make sure she felt respected too.

I had been with plenty of women. Alpha chasers. Women who had not found their mates yet always held out hope that maybe they would mate with an Alpha or somebody within his lines of power. It was a safe bet to be with an Alpha. You were always going to be safe and taken care of. Women would come to the parties, and sleep with the pack members in hopes that it would spark a bond pull. It never did though, and they would shuffle out the next morning upset at their actions.

Her entire body was shaking. I could feel it through the leather chair she was sitting in next to me. I nudged in closer to her, our noses almost touching as I moved towards her. Her bright green eyes were closed as she thought about what I had just said to her. One single curl bounced in front of her eyes, brushing against her nose every few movements. I decided to make a move and took her chin in my hand, leaning in towards her more. I kissed her softly, allowing my lips to slowly part and entertwine with hers. My mouth opened more and her tounge washed over mine as she grabbed the back of my head and pulled me into her more. She wanted me in return, I thought. With my free hand, I wrapped it around her waist and pulled her in closer, her entire body leaning over the arm of the chair. She kissed me harder, her fingers pulling at my hair. I dug my fingernails into the shirt she was wearing and pulled it, outlining her hourglass shape. She was beautiful.

Suddenly the door to the theater room slammed open and a young looking woman appeared, pushing past Kyle. Her eyes were livid. She came down the stairs, standing over Stella. I stood up quickly, eyeing her. With her hands on her hips, she stared down at Stella. "Lets GO!" She yelped. I looked down at Stella with a confused look on my face, looking for an answer as to who the hell this woman was. "Stella, I said LETS GO!" She stomped her foot hard on the carpeted floor and went to yank up Stellas arm. Before I knew what I was doing, my hand clutched around the womans wrist before she could reach Stella, and I held her tightly. She looked up at me bewildered. "Are you fucking kidding me!?" She snatched her wrist away quickly, rubbing it and looking at me like I was crazy. She was crazy for coming at my mate like that! I had no idea who this nut job was!

"Trevor, this is my little sister, June." Stella waved at her, rolling her eyes and standing up slowly, adjusting her shirt where I had yanked on it. I instantly felt horrible, but did not regret doing what I did. Instead, I held my hand out to her. "I'm Trevor" I said slyly. She had no reaction, ignoring my gaze, she stuck her hand out and returned the hand shake.

"Like I was saying.." she continued "We really need to get home, Stella. Dad will be looking for us" Reality sank in quickly for both Stella and I. There was an entire world outside the walls of this pack house. A world that would not approve of our relationship once it went public.

"Maybe we should.." but before I could finish, Stella was walking towards the door, looking back at me with sympathy.

"I have to go home, Trevor. I'm so sorry. I want to stay but.. " I nodded. I understood. This was going to be a long dance before we could go public or move forward. June grabbed ahold of Stellas hand tightly, dragging her out of the room and down the long hallway towards the stairs. Stella disappeared around the corner quickly and I heard the front door shut. I listened for their footsteps before they were too far away and I could no longer.

A few hours went by and I was already stirring in the house, going crazy. She was all I could think about and I had to see her again as soon as I could. I called Kyle up to my bedroom where I was sitting on the patio off my master suite.

"Whats up, boss man?" Kyle walked in, a bowl of cereal in his hands. He ate non stop. I rarely saw Kyle without some form of food or drink in his hands or somewhere very close by. He slid the glass sliding door behind him and plopped down in the chair next to me, lifting his legs and relaxing his feet on the ottomon.

"I need to see Stella again." Kyle stopped chewing momentarily, gazing at me with sincere confusion. He must not have known. "I mean, shes a South pack member. Her Dad is Alpha Jones, isn't he? It's up to you man, but.. some tail just isn't worth chasing.." I snarled loudly at the comment. His spoon dropped from his hand onto the deck, bouncing underneath my seat.

"She's. My. Mate" I spit out through gritted teeth and Kyle looked down, regretting his comment.

"I am so very sorry, Alpha. I had no idea. If I did, I wouldn't have said that. You know me, I get all goofy and say stupid shit and I just thought you thought she was like, really pretty or something and, well her sister was here all crazy last night and.." He slapped his forehead.

"I get it. But, she's my mate. And I have to see her again, and I have to make sure she is safe. So, I need to get to one of my hotels off of our territory. And I need to be discreet. If the news gets wind of this, we're fucked." He nodded and stood up, pulling his cell phone out of his jean pocket. He must have lost his appetite because he tossed what was left of his cereal over the railing as he dialed a number on his phone.

As Kyle turned to walk back inside to make the arrangements, my Father appeared at the doorway glass, tapping on it softly. I turned to see him smiling and waving at me like a little kid. My Father and I were close. We didn't always agree on things when it came to my pack, since he was no longer Alpha, but aside from that, we had a great relationship. My Mother had been murdered when I was 16 years old and in training. It was unsolved still, and he wouldn't tell me much about it. He kept telling me when it was time, he would tell me. I accepted that and moved on from it, not letting it eat away at me everyday like it did for so many years. He was pushing into his 60s now and was starting to slow down. Shifting took a little longer, and healing was a little slower than it used to be. But he was still a strong force in the pack, and I turned to him often for advice. If I had to fight, he would be right next to me regardless of the situation. His wolf form was still fairly giant, and he was fast. But, each year that went by since my Mothers passing, he grew weaker. Being an Alpha, his body pushed it off a little more than the average wolf. But when you lost your mate, most died shortly after. Maybe a couple years at most. He was doing okay, but I could see it in his day to day activities that he was getting worse. I worried I would lose him sooner than later.

Kyle rushed in, nodding at my father in passing and disappeared out of my room. My father sat down next to me, resting his hand on my shoulder.

“The ants seem to be marching today, son.”

I looked at him, keeping to myself.

“What is going on?” He asked. He knew something was really going on. I sighed. He removed his hand and leaned forward in the seat, looking me in the eyes. He was great with advice, so if I was going to ask anybody what to do, he was going to be the one to ask. I sat silent for a few minutes, pondering what to do. He allowed me to sit and think.

“I met my mate” I spit out suddenly. His eyes grew big and he stood up and leaned against the railing of the patio.

“Who is she?” He asked. He wouldn’t ask a question if it didn’t need an answer,

“Alpha Jones daughter. His eldest” I waited for a response, but my Father sat in silence.

“I met her this morning. She knows, too. And I have to bring her back here as soon as I can” He nodded, still thinking to himself. In the meantime, Kyle had reappeared in the doorway, keys in hand. My father looked up at him then down at me.

“Get her here and keep her here. Safe”

And that was the only advice I needed to hear. I jumped to my feet and rushed into my bedroom past Kyle, throwing a few items into a bag and giving it to Kyle as I went into my bathroom to find a few important documents. I had no idea what was going to happen from here on out. I shoved the envelope into the front of the backpack as Kyle held it against his chest. He looked like he was getting ready to go to school.

“Son..” My father had come back inside and he was sitting on the edge of my large king size bed. I stopped in my tracks.

“I know she is your mate and the need to get to her is strong. I know the pull. I’ve been in your shoes. Your Mom was from a rival pack when we were young…”

This was new information to me. I stared at my Father. He rarely talked about my Mother. He was heartbroken when she was killed. He huffed his chest up and down slowly. He was having a hard time even talking about her now.

“Before you were born, there were four packs in the city. And she came from Chipwore pack, Her father was their alpha..”

I was too stunned to respond, so he continued.

“We met by chance at a park in neutral territory. The young pups would go there to party, away from tattling eyes. She was standing on a park bench, wailing out a song she only knew a few words to” he laughed at the memory. “As soon as I laid eyes on her, I knew. She was mine. She jumped down and rushed over to me and jumped on me. Literally! She wrapped her long legs around my waist and laughed, said ‘My name is Nora! I guess we’re meant to be!’ Once we figured out who she was and who I was, we knew it would be a war if our parents found out. But what choice did we have? I went home that night and told my Mom and Grandpa. They brought to news to my pops and we orchestrated a plan to help her move packs. I regret not giving her a choice or asking her opinion on the matter.” He shook away the bad memory of his decisions. “Instead of being angry, my father understood. He had great compassion for me and the situation, and agreed to welcome your Mother into our pack, no questions asked. Nora came willingly, but her Father was angry. They were the smallest pack and highly unliked at the time. My Father had called an Alpha meeting mere hours after finding out about Nora and called to banish out the entire pack. Long story short, they fought back. Wolves lost their lives over us being mates, and the city lost an entire pack! Families were uprooted. I just…” he voice trailed off. He stood up and walked towards me, taking my shoulders in his hands.

“I don’t want you to make the same mistakes we did. I want your mate safe without a war looming over your heads” He let go of me and turned to walk out of the room.

“I’m here to help” he shrugged his shoulders hard then disappeared down the hallway.
