The Mistake

Alex was right. The moon shone in all its splendour. It was a full moon and gleaming in appearance. Mists of little clouds surrounded the silver orb, giving it an ethereal look. Stars sparkled like lights of heaven, dotting the dark sky. The air felt clean and fresh. Rosalie took a deep breath, and closed her eyes, enjoying the scenery that had unfolded.

Alex's sudden words were the first to break the silence that had fallen between them. "I like it when you're this relaxed," he said.

When she finally opened her eyes, she saw him there, standing directly in front of her. They had been walking for a long time and were now in the middle of the forest, a world apart from the commotion of the grand hall. He moved one foot in front of the other. She inadvertently knocked the towering Cherry Tree as she took a step backwards. He imprisoned her by putting his hands out on either side of her, blocking any attempts to get away.
