Chapter 4

  “You--”

Vera Qin just wanted to get angry, and immediately calmed down.

“My phone is broken and I can’t contact my family. I’m afraid they will call the police if they can’t find me, and you will be in trouble when that happens. I just need to contact them real quick...”

Vera\'s voice became smaller and smaller as he walked out.

Her plan had failed again. Anxiously, she tried to come up with another.

Half an hour later, Vera Qin was surprised to see the servant had brought her a new mobile phone.

“The boss ordered me to give you this mobile phone so you can contact your family.”

After the mobile phone was set up, the first thing Vera did was to contact the hospital and transfer RMB200,000 for medical expenses.

After that, she tried to contact the family of the deceased victim, but they refused to speak with her directly. She had to go through their lawyer.

Then she got the call from the victim who was still alive.

“Hello, I am George Qin’s eldest daughter. I’m sorry I’m late in contacting you, my father...”

  “Go straight to the point.”

  It was another cold man.

“Well, I called you about compensation. Our family is now...”

“Three million dead, two million mine, one million car damage.”

When Vera Qin heard these huge numbers, her heart instantly fell.

“Sir, isn’t this too much? It costs six million together. I can’t get that much money.”

“Don’t bargain with me, you piece of trash.”

“But I really don’t have that much money. My family is bankrupt now, my father--”

  He’d already hung up.

As she put the phone down on the bed, her face slumped. Where can she go to get six million? What a huge mess this was that her father had left her to clean up.

Again, the man came to her the next night.

Suddenly his hand stopped as he touched a part of her skin that didn’t match the rest. It was situated on her lower abdomen.

  Vera Qin quickly explained.

“That’s a scar, from when I had donated an organ to someone.”

The corners of her mouth were raised in a faint smile, and she mocked him inwardly. This man must be judging her for that scar.

In her mind, she made fun of him. Donated an organ to someone? He had the empathy of a pile of rocks, as far as she could tell.

The past few days have overwhelmed her physically. She lay slumped on the bed and looked at the man who was about to leave again in the dark.

“Thank you for the phone, I\'ll return it to you after the transaction is over.”

The man left without saying anything.

A week later, Vera’s ovulation period was over, and the man no longer came. She didn’t have to live in a dark room every day, she could go in and out freely, but she was always with the maid.

There was happy news for her. Her younger sister had finally woken up. The bad news was that Bianca now had a horrible anxiety disorder.

She’d been so traumatized that she couldn’t go to school and needed a caregiver. Treatment also costs a lot of money, since she had to see a psychiatrist.

After leaving her sister’s room, Vera went to see her mother.

Suddenly, the maid answered the phone and handed it to her.

Vera answered the phone suspiciously. “What is it, sir?”

“I’m going to the villa tonight. Get ready.” He spoke as if he was merely informing her.

“Today is not my ovulation period, we have no such agreement.”

  “I\'ll pay you separately.”

She smiled bitterly. Wasn’t she in urgent need of money?

  “Fifty thousand each time.”

The man hung up the phone. Vera‘s eyes were filled with hope.

This way, Vera would have an income of 50,000 yuan a day.

He came around eleven o’clock at night, and he was no different from how he’d always been.

When he finished, she hugged him warmly.

“Stay a little longer, just five more minutes.”

After many days of pain, Vera Qin could no longer see any hope and could not feel any warmth. The only time she felt warm was when he lay beside her.

She just wanted him to accompany her for five minutes, until the clock struck twelve.

The man’s reaction was very disappointing. He pushed her away and got up.

“Don’t get carried away. You’re just a baby maker, nothing more.”

“Carried away? Today is my birthday. I just wanted someone to spend five minutes with me.”

In the darkness, Vera vented loudly. She sobbed as he left.

  Unfortunately, her mother passed away.

She cried bitterly in the dark room, and the heart-piercing voice reached the ears of the man outside the door.

The cry was as tragic as the sound that stopped him in the hospital that day. He couldn’t bear to step into the bedroom.

The next morning, she was woken up by a servant.

“Miss, let me confirm if you have menstruation?”

“Yes, I came yesterday. Check with me in the bathroom.”
