Chapter 7

Vera Qin badly needed the money, but she did not have the heart to raise the price then and there.

The man was silent, after a moment.

“If you don’t count the half-million of the deposit, I’ll give you another four million.”

  “I don’t want the extra.”

Although four million could solve a big problem for her, Vera Qin decisively refused.

“Don’t interrupt me, you will want it when I’m finished.”

The man growled a warning and continued.

“Among them, 2.5 million is stipulated in the contract, 500,000 is your nutrition during pregnancy, and 500,000 is your child’s one-month support.”

  The man stopped.

  “The remaining half a million?”

Vera Qin didn’t have the patience to wait any longer.

  “Sleep with me again.”

When the man’s voice fell, he had already begun to touch her.

He grabbed Vera‘s arm and forced her to lie on the sofa.

When Vera Qin tried to resist, the man had her pinned down.

“Humph,” Vera snorted. “Before I had a baby, it was 50,000 yuan at one time, but it was ten times that when I had a baby. Why didn’t I know that I’d be so valuable now?”

Vera\'s heart was beating irregularly, but her mouth was stubbornly speaking.

“If that’s too much, then come here more often.”

No sooner had he spoken than he suddenly kissed Vera‘s lips. He seemed eager to kiss her.

  “Um... let go... I refuse.”

  He ignored her refusal.

On the third day, the man came back with the results.

  “It’s my child.”

“Are you going to take him away now?”

Vera Qin had known the result for a long time, but she was very reluctant to let her child go. Holding the child tightly in his arms, she feared that the man would take the child away immediately.

“I can’t take it away now, you can continue to care for him.”

The man said it as though it meant nothing to him, but for Vera, it was an unexpected surprise.

“Sure thing! But... can you pay me the money first?”

No matter what, Vera Qin still had to face the ruthless reality.

“The lawyer will come over to talk to you. You’ll get the money after the contract is signed.”

Again, the man had his way with her. After he’d finished, he picked up their child and cuddled it in the dark, rather stiffly. Perhaps he had no experience holding children.

After handling everything with the lawyer, Vera Qin quickly called Qin Lan.

“Aunt, I got the money, I’ve already transferred it to your account. Give them the four million. I’m thinking of a solution for the injured.”

After compensating the family of the deceased, Vera Qin could breathe a little more easily. But she still needed to produce more money.

“Have you given him the child? Vera, bring the child back if you can,” Qin Lan said sadly. Vera was the mother, so why doesn’t she want to keep the child by her side?

“Aunt, we have no other way, just do what I said. I’m figuring out how to get the rest of the money, and I’m communicating with the injured.”

Vera Qin hung up. Once again, she felt anxious.

The injured person’s attitude was even tougher than that of the deceased’s family. Even if she tried her best to get in touch, he seemed to take pleasure in making things more difficult for her.

Vera had no clue as to where she could get more money.

The the man would now come to her every day.

Vera Qin did not refuse his advances. She wanted to improve the relationship between the two of them, and see if she could borrow some money from him.

He was now very different from how he was originally. Vera Qin fumbled with her clothes as she got dressed. She got up and sat beside the man.

She hesitated for a moment before speaking.

“I... can you lend me some money? I...”

“That’s why you bowed your head to court in the past few days. This is the reason why you sent your child back so late?”

The man didn’t give Vera Qin a chance to finish speaking.

“No, no. I’m borrowing, not asking for money. I will give you an IOU, and I\'ll also give you interest. There is absolutely no...”

“Nothing? Your ambition has been exposed. The next step is to marry me, right?”

He spoke so loudly, so angrily that the baby, who was now in a crib, was scared and crying loudly.

  “No...that’s not it...”

Vera hurriedly got out of bed and hugged the child in her arms.

“Don’t act innocent. You’ve finally exposed your ambition. You can’t fool other men, and you can’t fool me. If I didn’t need someone to give birth to my son, you never would have had a chance to approach me.”

“Women like you, you give them a hand, they try to take your whole arm. You’re not qualified to be my son’s mother.”
