Chapter 7

Though James hated his cold attitude, the sight of him lying pale on the bed broke his heart. He sighed heavily as he left the room.

He had a disappointed look on his face as he asked Danny Cheng for a reasonable explanation of the incident.

Danny Cheng’s heart fluttered. Could he say that all these occurred because James had sent Larry Lin to the set?

“Also, why was his previous spinal injury not included in the information you gave me?”

James squinted and angrily looked at Danny Cheng, who was trying his best not to show his fear.

\"I went through various channels to verify Joey Xiao\'s activities in foreign countries. It’s possible that the waist injury might have happened there.\"

  \"All kinds of channels? Huh.\"

Danny respectfully bowed his head. “I’ve looked into both the legal and illegal activities he was into.”

“Get more information.” James Fu instructed, as he taps his fingers gently on the armrest of a chair where he was seated.

“Tell Larry Lin’s agent that he’s fired from the project and he was not to be given any more projects for the next six months.”

  Afternoon came.

\"Joey Xiao, was it worth it?

Lawrence Chu stood at the door of his room. He looked ugly and sounded rough.

\"It’s good money. Why not?\" Joey Xiao answered with a smile and waved to him to sit down and talk.

  \"Are now you’re gesturing at me like a dog!\"

Lawrence Chu came in and put some fruits on the bedside table. He pulled a chair, and sat beside the bed.

\"How did you know I\'m here?\" Joey Xiao asked as he bit an apple.

Lawrence Chu snickered and threw his cell phone to him. \"Now everyone in the imperial capital knows you are in the hospital.\"

Joey Xiao\'s eyes flashed, and he looked at the mobile phone.

\"I’m trending now, am I? James Fu must have leaked this to the media for publicity. That bastard cares nothing about how I feel, he wants to milk it for what it’s worth.\"

“What? James Fu? Are you two together again? I thought you’ve had enough of him?\"

Joey Xiao grinned. \"Why do you think that we’re together? He’s my benefactor, that’s all. An artist needs his patrons to survive.\"

Lawrence Chu said nothing and simply stared at Joey Xiao. Finally, he smiled. “Well, now I know.”

Joey Xiao\'s eyes flickered, and changed the topic.

\"I heard you’re making a documentary in Xinjiang, what made you come back here to see me?”

Lawrence Chu knew that he wanted the role. “Some Idiot got his contract voided. I came back to find someone who would fit the role.”

Lawrence Chu eyed Joey Xiao from head to toe.

  \"What do you think?.\"

Joey Xiao smiled, handed him an apple, and pointed to his lower body, “By the way, I’m crippled. Would you take me?”

  Paralytic?

Lawrence Chu stiffened upon hearing his condition. He couldn’t take his eyes off Joey Xiao as he covered himself with the sheets.

“You mean you were not well yet?”

“It was an old one. It was supposed to be ok now. But my new injury triggered it, and now it’s back.” Joey Xiao shrugged.

  Lawrence Chu was instantly blue.

“So, you were lying when you told me you were completely healed?”
