Chapter 8

Joey Xiao opened his mouth but gave no answer, seeing Lawrence Chu’s reaction.

\"What the hell was wrong with you?\" Lawrence Chu’s hands were clenched into a fist. Had Joey not been disabled he would have beaten him up to let him learn a lesson.

Looking at Lawrence Chu’s enraged appearance, he sighed and said, “I’m used to lying in bed. Let’s change the topic to a more relaxing one.”

Lawrence Chu turned to the door but stopped. “Who did this to you in the first place? I don’t care if you want to forget. I can’t.” With that, he strode out.

Joey Xiao tried to wave him away, as if to say “nonsense.” Then he fell off the bed.

Lawrence Chu went back in and lifted him back to bed.

“Look, I’m going to arrange for a hospital transfer. I am taking you to Xinjiang tonight.”

Joey Xiao wheeled himself forward as the sun shone on top of his head.

A camera filmed him from behind.

The make-up artist was helping to fix him at the amusement of Lawrence Chu.

“You took me here in a rush. But my being invalid now just fits the character of male number three.”

\"Shut up and drink this.” Lawrence Chu put a straw in his mouth.

After having two sips of the drink, Joey Xiao asked, “How about that one?” He gestured at the other one.

When it comes to the business side of making movies, you sure can count on Lawrence Chu. It’s his expertise.

“You’re a talented actor. If you hadn’t gone off, you’d have been a much bigger name in the film and television industry. And you could have won so many awards.”

Lawrence Chu\'s tone was encouraging, but it was evident that he was full of regret.

  Joey Xiao just smiled.

Even if he hadn’t lost his momentum as an actor, the film and television industry was not the most stable one to build a career in. For all he knew, things could have ended up much worse.

“Okay, just enjoy it here. Don’t come running back to James Fu.” Lawrence Chu patted his shoulder.

“By ‘here’ are you referring to yourself?” Joey laughed at his own joke.

\"What’s so funny about that?\" Lawrence Chu wasn’t offended but he jumped on the opportunity to discuss the topic. \"I’ve been waiting for you for so many years, you’re still not willing to give it a shot?\"

\"Sorry, No.\" Joey Xiao answered without hesitation.

Lawrence Chu pressed his chest in one hand and pointed the other one at him. The expression on his face was so painful anyone can feel it.

Joey Xiao knew that he was acting, and he didn\'t interrupt. He just went along with it.

Lawrence Chu entertained him this way until he was interrupted by the ringing of the phone.

He went to pick it up, and when the call was over, he turned back to Joey Xiao. ”James Fu was coming to visit the group tonight.”

A hint of delight streaked across Joey Xiao’s face. Lawrence Chu caught this. “You really are a masochist. I should stop caring about you.”

Lawrence Chu was visibly upset. He took the megaphone and yelled at the staff still in the room.

There was a trace of disappointment in his eyes as Joey looked at Lawrence Chu going about berating people for not knowing that they should have left.
