Someone saved me

~Eros~

I never imagined that my death would be so close when I haven't achieved anything yet. I had spoken to Daya, my fiancee that morning. After ignoring her calls for weeks, I decided to pick it up before the plane took off.

"I know you don't love me yet Eros but you need to think about the baby," She had told me and I didn't bother replying as I ended the call and placed my head on my seat.

"Are you alright sir?" Arianne, my secretary asked when she heard me hissing. "Do you want something to drink?" She was about signaling to the hostess but I shook my head in response.

" I'll be fine," I told her and sighed briefly. " I am just worried about my wedding tomorrow," I fluttered my eyes open and turned to face her. " I don't think I am ready to get married yet to anyone."

Arianne grabbed my hand and squeezed it gently. Even though she was my secretary, I look up to her as the older sister that I never had. "It's going to be fine Eros," she assured me and I nodded in response. "You've been stressed for the past few days so you need to rest."

I closed my eyes and suddenly thought of the woman who collided with me at the airport. Just like me, she was stressed with life. I didn't know what she was going through at that moment but I felt for her and while thinking about her, I fell into a deep slumber until…

"Sir!" Arianne shook me vigorously to reality.

"What's going on?" I demanded to know why she had woken me up from my slumber but the loud roaring of the plane confirmed it all. The plane shook terribly and I could feel the impact on my seat. "Why is the plane like this?" I asked because a while ago, the captain had announced that there was a clear sky so I wondered why we were in that situation. Just then, the intercom came on.

"Please fasten your seat belts immediately, ladies and gentlemen, as we are experiencing some turbulence. Thank you very much." Over the intercom, the pilot said.

A turbulence? What we were having was not turbulence but rather a sign that our plane was about to crash. I gritted my teeth as I held the arms rest tightly. "Are you okay Arianne?" I asked my secretary whose eyes were closed.

She shook her head in response. Again, the intercom came on. ""Your captain is speaking. We must immediately make an emergency landing!"

" An emergency landing!" I wanted to scream out loud but the roaring of the engine covered my voice. No one could hear me even if I shouted so I held my screams and waited for what was about to happen.

"Please use your masks!" An air hostess said to us and when the oxygen mask dropped, I quickly placed it above my head but Arianne was unlucky. As she was about to place it over her head, the plane turned sideways and she hit her head against the window frame.

"Arianne!" I screamed out her name but she had already gone limp and couldn't hear what I had said. "Arianne!" I screamed through the oxygen masks when I saw blood trailing down her face from her head. My head rolled backwards as the plane dropped. The man seated opposite me fell from his seat and I also did the same. I groaned in pain as I tried to crawl from underneath my seat but a metal flew from nowhere and hit me on the stomach. I spat out blood and remained motionless on the floor.

I remincinced my past as I pictured my life. I was going to die a terrible death and was going to be remembered as a man who died through a plane crash. My chest rose and fell rapidly and I felt my eyelids heavy. I struggled to keep myself awake but I couldn't for a long time. My vision became hazy and I felt myself slowly entering into a stage of unconsciousness. The last word I said before I blacked out was Arianne.

"Arianne!" I whispered.

When I woke up, I felt my head pounding as if someone was hitting me on the head. I screamed out loud when I saw someone beside me. His eyes were open but his face was covered with blood. It was as if he was watching me. I quickly averted my eyes from his and tried to get up but I felt stuck and couldn't stand up. A wave of pain traveled round my body and I screamed out loud.

I wanted to say something hoping that someone who was alive would hear me but what came out was a scream. The wave of pain hit me yet again and when I opened my mouth to scream, I heard someone's footsteps heading towards me.

Someone was alive and had come to save me.

"I am going to assist you," The words that came from her mouth gave me an assurance that I was going to survive.
