Damien Etheridge

Settling down in life and inheriting all his business empire Or losing it forever.

Damien had given five years of his life in the family business but never saw it coming to be left with these two options by his father at some point.

He wasn't brought up spoiled with getting the company just like that. He had worked hard to get his position there and he wasn't going to give it up anyway and the girl, his father had chosen for him was supposed to be a gold digger.

So, dealing with her wasn't going to be hard. Damien thought and agreed to meet the girl. He was sure to scare her out of her mind and get her running for the hills.

He wouldn't have to do much anyway. Because one look of him was going to be enough. He had graceful physiques and a greek god look but equally, apart from his playboy nature, he was well known to be a cold and ruthless businessman In business world.

But one meeting with the girl was enough to ensure Damien that things weren't going to be likewise anymore...

~~

Damien walked into the coffee shop and wandered his eyes all around only to catch the sight of the girl who he was meeting here, sitting by a table at a corner. She was back facing him.

He didn't like the idea of being among people when he would be showering the girl with threats and cold words. So, he rented the full place for one whole hour though he was sure just five minutes would be more than enough to get his work done here.

But then he was going to spend the rest of his time here celebrating his victory over his father and for getting all obstacles removed from his way of getting the inheritance of the business empire forever.

Damien didn't even have to say anything other than his name, "Damien Etheridge." in the last ten seconds after settling in his chair across the girl who seemed to be impatiently waiting for him as he saw her checking the time from her watch.

Well, he was late for 15 minutes because he had a meeting and it unexpectedly extended at the end.

The two words were barely out of his mouth before Eden spoke up restlessly, "I can't marry you."

Damien didn't know if he should be happy. Because this girl had just saved him from unnecessary works like scaring her with his cold words to get her running for the hills, seeing her already scared. His cold behaviour was well known to her also amused him until Eden talked again.

"Look, I know you are a billionaire and not to mention devilishly handsome but I can't marry you" Eden paused for a moment, searching for the right word to state her point, "No offense but you are not good for me."

Damien blinked and then blinked again.

No one ever dared to talk to him like that. Not for once in his long 28 years of life. Then how dare she?

And then what did she say? He wasn't good for her!

He was handsome and worth billions.

Well, she also admitted these about him. Then how the hell he wasn't good for any woman let alone this woman?

"So, do me a favor. Tell your father that I don't like you." Eden pleaded to get Damien to reach his patience limit immediately, "What?"

This girl wanted him to tell his father this bullshit by himself! And what he would have to say to him? She didn't like him? Just ridiculous!

"I mean you can say you don't like me as well if you think this sounds better."

Damien snapped at her being irritated out of his mind, "Of course, it sounds better. And it's a matter of fact. I don't like you."

He glanced at her properly. She was short for his height, long brunette curl hair, petite girl not to mention her thick frame glasses. He added further, "Not even a single thing about you. You look exactly like a mousy librarian and I hate this type of girls."

Damien was pissed off at his Dad too. How could he say this girl would be perfect for him!

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know you had the authority to judge me. Who are you? God? Eden wanted to scream this so badly at his face but she knew she should be behaving as her job was concerned. So, she just mimicked his tone, "Okay. I get it. Say whatever you want to say. I don't care as long as I don't get to marry you."

"What's wrong with me? Why don't you want to marry me?" Damien asked.

As much as he was relieved to get mutual feelings from the girl in front of him but he was intrigued also not to mention his irritation for that.

The girl wasn't anywhere near his league. Be it looks or status or anything, the girl was way below him. He should be the one to reject her and she should be the one to plead with him to marry her.

This was the scenario that crossed his mind when he agreed to meet her and he had planned out everything to get her out of his way.

But now when she seemed not to be fallen for his looks and out of his way from the very beginning and his so well planned things, he wasn't going to get the chance to execute irritated him to the core.

"Are you sure you want to hear my response? You won't like it." Eden leaned back to her seat and when Damien didn't answer, she spoke up taking his silence positively.

Damien was stunned by the boldness of the girl. He wanted to know the response of her which he could already make out from her expression before but Eden had to prove him wrong. Her words were no match for the words Damien had anticipated to hear....
