Chapter Four

The world was divided into two, one side inhabited by vampires and another inhabited by humans. Peace had never been a statement in the ancient’s days between this two creatures and both seeked control over the other.

After more than a thousand years of war and bloodshed, a treaty was finally formulated and peace was finally able to uphold only at a very unfavourable deal with the humans.

As humans were the weaker of the two, they had no choice but to give up to 65% of everything to vampires and take the rest and no matter how unfavourable this was, they were burdened to accept it as their side was the most affected during the war.

Peace was established although on a very thin thread that might snap anytime, the humans were not happy and the vampires knew that, at this they were more than ready for war at any time.

A question of why inter-marriage couldn’t have been done by both sides to establish a firm treaty could have been posed but it was in the knowledge of all that intercourse between a human and a vampire could only ever lead to death, no matter how strong the human was and this natural law had always been.

It was as if nature could never accept an in between from the two creatures and firmly implied this law making it so that any disobedient duo suffered heavily, if the human doesn’t dies, that person would have his/her ability to bear children completely destroyed and a continual could only lead to his/her eventual death.

As for the vampire, he/she would end up having his/her ability stripped of him which made it so that humans could never cross paths with each other in hope for love, for even if love could pass all trials, the trial of lust linked very closely to death was a scary one.

But in all of this came a human who was foretold by prophesy that could never be affected by this curse of nature or the any curse at all, the curse of humanity to only have a few years with them was deflected by her as she was immortal, the curse of living on blood was null as blood wasn’t something she needed.

She was perfect, neither a human nor a vampire, she was…a Goddess.

And to find this goddess a sign was given, her ability to manipulate ice. Some humans had the ability to manipulate certain abilities and be able to cast any spell as long as his/her magical aptitude and strength was enough.

As for vampires, with an addition to their excellent physical ability, they also had the ability to yield at least one special ability and just like humans, only a special group had this ability.

Yet unlike humans, they couldn’t use any ability outside of their scope, a fire ability user who was a human could use spells or potions to summon other abilities like wind, lightening etc. But a vampire could only ever use one ability neither spells nor potions could change this and only spells at the scope of his/her ability could be used.

Either-way, one weird thing was that in all awakening of abilities, no human nor vampire had ever awakened the ice ability.

Investigations were done on both sides to figure out exactly if it was actually true and the fact that ice abilities were non-existent was a huge shock throughout the world, due to this, ice related potions or spells were very rare and quite defective, perfects one with little or no defects were reserved only for royalty.

Researches were still ongoing even after the war to find out why exactly this was so and seemingly because of the persistence of both races, a Prophesy was revealed at the same time to the different races.

About a person who was neither human nor vampire, having the unseen ice ability and the capacity to destroy the entire universe.

At that time, it was not if she was a disaster or a saviour that was important, what was for both races was to secure this weapon because with her, their victory and domination was ensured and so in both the human and vampire world, Isdis was a wanted personality.

“Capture her! Stop at nothing to capture THAT LADY, do you know the huge bounty on her head?! We’ll be made noble vampires if we capture her! Attack all at once, hold that bastard down and capture her!”

The entire group seemed to have a thread snap in them as they rushed towards Isdis who was caught in surprise, Khary seeing how dire things was, was a step away from stepping in but was caught off when Isdis suddenly levitated upwards.

“My judgement on you for daring to oppose royalty no matter what race you may be is death!” Isdis screamed as she sent tens of icicles at once towards the group

Igris dodged deftly and leaped upwards towards Isdis who back flipped and landed on a pole of ice she created.

“Interesting, I never thought that I would ever see the ice ability my entire life! How amusing, who knew that my lucky day would suddenly arrive!” Igris said with a wide smile as his entire features suddenly enhanced

His hair became a darker shade of red whilst his eyes shimmered like the prettiest of gold and his fingers got elongated.

“Do you know what my ability is dearest, for you must know at least that some vampires have abilities right?” Igris asked while attacking Isdis who was cornered into only defending

“Once a swipe of my fingers touches you, your blood will be infected by a very deadly poison with a high weakening effect. It really doesn’t matter if your ability is weakened, all we need is you being able to wield that ability and our gateway to heaven on earth will finally be opened!” Igris exclaimed rather excitedly as his attacks became wilder

“My lady!” Khary exclaimed in panic when Isdis was almost scatched, although she had coated her hand with ice, the finger still managed to pierce it and was a step away from scratching her.

‘No! I must give her acquaintance!’

“Hold down that MF!” Igris shouted at Jack and the other two guys who ran towards Khary

“Such colourful words, do you perhaps hold a grudge on him?” Isdis said while narrowly dodging Igris kick that almost connected his reddish toe-nails to her abdomen

She wasn’t wearing an armour and if those nails could easily pierce her ice, her clothes would be nothing but paper in comparison.

“Who knows?” Igris said while throwing Isdis a punch

“This has gone on long enough” Isdis said while glancing worriedly at Khary who was easily fending off the trio attacking him.

There was a reason why she never wanted Khary to participate on any of her battles, it was due to his nature, he was cruel in battle and his methods were crude enough to induce fear even in her and Khary knew this, that was why he listened to her during her suggestions of not participating in any battles.

“Oh dear spirit of ice, I call unto thou to listen to my pleas and create from within me a housing of ice!” Isdis exclaimed and when igris thought he had finally caught her, his fingers only a miliscond away from touching her, an icicle came from within her and blocked him and in the process froze his nails.

“Ack!”

“Now shalt we begin the real judgement?!” Isdis exclaimed

[Few hours later]

Khary who had placed Isdis’ fainted body away from him went onto another area and puked, although because he was a vampire who didn’t exactly eat anything all he could do was vomit bile.

Finally done and panting, he tore of a piece of his cloth and in an attempt to cover his eyes but then his ears twitched.

The next second he flashed towards isdis' body and her in his arms as he sighed in relief before fiercely asking-

“Who are you?!”

“Would you look at that, are you so disgusted by you actions that you pour out the contents of your stomach? Look around you Kharyskhaan, you did this, you were the one who tore this poor creatures to pieces with your hand. Not only did you do that Kharyskhaan, you also ate their he…”

“Stop saying such things this instant! And how do you know my name?! It was never spoken” Khary exclaimed with red eyes while growling at the unknown figure that just wouldn’t show itself

He quivered in shame as the statements hit him heavily, surrounding him were the remains of the men who had attacked them, their body was ripped apart and their innards could be seen scattered around and in their chest was a very noticeable hole.

“You’re happy she didn’t see you aren’t you? That she didn’t see the monster you are….”

“She hath already beheld my vulgar nature and didn’t despise!” Khary refuted

“But has she ever seen you eat a beating heart?” The voice said fuelling Khary’s rage

“Reveal yourself you cowardly being!” Khary roared as his fangs elongated, his eyes shone bright red as he slowly spun around in circles getting ready for battle but before he could make any more action

Bam!

Khary felt his vision blur as his neck got hit and he blacked out.

“Thank you for your assistance, but I shall be taking it from here” The unknown person said to the corpse of one of Igris’ cronies and the next minute, something shocking happened

The ‘corpse’ slowly stood up and its torn arms, legs and head slowly reconnected, his flesh slowly formed together and imbedded itself to him. It was as if he had reformed himself.

“You have no heart to begin with, did he not notice?” The unknown person asked with a chuckle

“Oh he did and that naughty little thing dealt quite exceptionally with me because of it. Did you not see that my corpse got the worst of it all?” The risen corpse said

“Hahaha, it was worth it though, who would have ever known that the witch could actually be correct for once! I can’t wait for the king’s honour, oh I want a vacation to one of the human’s land~”

“What is it with you and humans?”

“Ah, nothing much, just that the amount of fresh blood you could get directly from their sources with a slight wave of treasure are amazing. Humans are selfish, greedy creatures and making the best out of it isn’t a crime at all! It’s called business”

“If you say so, I am still in shock with how stupid humanity could be letting go of such a legendary weapon” The risen said

“I’m more in confusion of what humans have with the second prince” The unknown man said in a grim voice

“Let this discussion be held in the council”

“Indeed”

Both vampires agreed then and there sealing Isdis and Khary’s fate, they were going to the vampire’s castle.
