Episode 5

As we both waited for the answer that would change our lives forever, my phone rang and I quickly shoved my hand into my mini bag, brought out my phone, and immediately took the call. It was the alpha of my pack. He was probably making an enquiring call as touching the meeting and whether I was making it out alive at least.

“Elise what is going on at the moment? You have spent more than a quarter of a day there. What does he want in return for the stone?” Alpha David asked, and I sighed.

Then I looked at the Alpha Carl in front of me and groaned.

“It is a marriage proposal, right? We have imagined something like this would happen, and you just have to make the right decision especially as the guardian of the pack. You have a right to choose whichever way you want this to turn out for us all.” David said, soberly.

I knew my alpha was gifted enough to know what was going on, that was one of his powers.

“Alpha David, I believe that the right decision is to actually marry him. I have no choice and I am not doing it for the pack but for myself. So no one should take this as a sacrificial decision. I am no heroine!” I spat, and then noticed the grin on the Overlord's face as his gaze was transfixed on me, smiling like he just won some lottery.

Obviously, he just did.

So it was quite a mystery when the suggestion of me marrying an unknown person to gain back the Luna stone came into light. One I would rather squelch down.

Anyway, that was the last resort for the park. My offering myself was the only trump card.

This was the only obvious thing to do and the most mature decision to make. I thought I ended the call already, I really pitied the man though. Hmm, I wasn't really a very easy person to live with though.

”So you have agreed to the marriage proposals already..?” Carl asked as I sat back.

I secretly wished that he could fall off his chair and break his head or something. He looked so composed, powerful and arrogant while I was suffering, thinking about living under a roof with one man, even his attractiveness was not appealing enough to get me to appreciate him.

“Well, I guess I can take my leave and the stone, right?” I asked as I sprung up from my seat.

“Not in your life, Princess! You will sign the marriage contract here and now! And then, we can have the ceremony in three days' time!” He yelled as he countered. He seemed prepared already for this ceremony, and he couldn't afford to take the blame later on should anything go wrong.

What a forced marriage!

I wrinkled my nose. Was this man thinking I was that dishonest, why? When he could have any female of his choice, yet he picked me and then he couldn't trust me enough to let me go. He really has got some trust issues!

“Whatever! Just bring in the documents as soon as possible. I have a modelling shoot to catch up with in forty five minutes by the way, and I hate being late.” I said sarcastically, shifting my gaze off to the side.

After his butler brought in the said documents and I felt like I just signed off my fundamental human rights to get the stone, I was escorted back to the car and was dropped off at an international air strip where a private jet, silver and sleek, awaited me.

“Perks of being the Luna Overlord.” The driver commented offhandedly as he parked near the airstrip.

“I didn't request for this.” I said haughtily.

“Well, you will not blame my master for delaying you then.” The driver said again as he got down and opened the door for me.

Immediately, a group of bodyguards appeared and led me to the plane. One of the men carried my bags and I was led into a lovely well furnished jet. The carpet was lush and the seats looked like cushioned heavens. There was a lovely bar with assorted drinks and a table filled with all kinds of sweet meats and baked goodies.

On the side was a deli bar and what looked like a vegan table plus green smoothies. Everything was leathery and gilded with gold.

I was surprised when a rather beautiful air hostess appeared from the cockpit and ushered me to sit near the window and I was served a shrimp cocktail in a glass with a bottle of an expensive champagne.

“Luna, please if you need anything including a massage, our services are available for you.” the hostess said happily with a bow.

It did not take long before I got to my photo shoot location and it was not long before I started receiving congratulatory messages of marital bliss from every person I knew. I scoffed as I finished up on the shoot and went to get an iced coffee. It was my favourite, a coconut and vanilla flavoured latte with foam and two packets of agave.

I then proceeded to call my driver, for I was going to my home in Beverly hills and I turned off my phone.

The bloggers were already at it and they were speculating everything; from the dress, to the venue, to the caterer, and the guest list.

I didn't worry about anything as I sank in my claw bath tub that evening, sipping a glass of yogurt and kale smoothie. The bath was my normal routine and it was so relaxing. My favourite pink and vanilla bath bombs and the scented candles blended into an atmosphere of ambience and sensuality. Memories of the busy afternoon and how I reacted to my husband to be, came to play in my mind.

That man was too attractive for words to really describe.

But then, why hadn't he gotten married to any of the young girls that sauntered around, flaunting bare cleavages and pouting into cameras before him? The debutantes and werewolf celebrities would definitely die for this position.

I was just an ordinary hardworking model.

“It's a good thing that I caught you, Princess.” I was jolted out of my reverie by the said devil. His voice echoed through the mp3 player I was using to listen to cool, nature sounds from my iPhone.

“Carl Blackburn, it is so like you to invade my privacy. Thank you for the guards and private jet. You could have thrown in a whole airport to crown the ordeal.” I said sarcastically.

“Actually, your destination could not be taken from my private airstrip or else I would have taken you from there. I expect that in three days, you will be a proper bride.” Carl laughed as he heard my gasps.

"In your dreams, dear… I can never be the conventional bride!” I commented, and then hissed.

“Well, I'll say that's great to hear, mi amour. And bedsides, I never intended for a conventional bride. You are just the right one for me, and obviously, you haven't realized that you are my mate yet. That is rather amazing!” His voice over the speaker was so piercing, blasting like it was going to destroy my eardrums.

But I must confess, he's every woman's dream! Including you!

I paused, thinking about what he just said.

"Did you just say 'mate'…? Like, I'm your mate..? No, I can't be your mate! That can't be true!"
