KNEEL AND APOLOGIZE

“Kneel and apologize right now!” Rich shouted at her.

Megan looked at her husband, her lips lopsided in sadness. As soon as he had walked into the store, Liana rushed and threw herself at him, crying pitifully. Her shoulders were shaking as she racked in sobs causing Rich to feel a tear in his heart.

“What happened? Why are you crying?” He asked tenderly, not understanding what the drama was all about.

Liana turned in his arms and pointed a shaky finger at Megan. “She hit me and splashed water on me”

Oooh this woman, Megan thought as she looked aghast at them. Liana had started it all but was now making it seem like she was the one who was attacked.

“Then she slapped me and humiliated me in front of everyone calling me a bitch and a husband snatcher” she wailed. “Rich, tell her that we are just friends and nothing is going on between us.”

Liana twisted things so that people could have a negative impression of Megan. She did not want to expose her affair with Rich but also wanted Rich to stand up for her just to show Megan that she was more important to him than his wife.

It was then that Rich looked up and saw his wife. At first, he thought that she might have been there shopping but as he looked closely at her, he saw a name tag pinned on her blouse.

“What are you doing here and what is the meaning of this?” he shouted. Liana, feeling aggrieved, cried even more and Rich had to hold her close to him.

“Excuse me, this is my workplace and your mistress just came here to cause a ruckus for nothing” she was angry but she was not going to cause a fight between her and her husband in public.

“Rich……..” Liana sobbed delicately when she heard Megan call her a mistress.

“Now listen here, stop slandering Liana when you know that she is a top model. How dare you hit her and splash water on her? And what do you mean by you work here?” He had heard from his mother that Megan had gotten a job but he never bothered about it.

The people who were still watching were not sure of the relationship between Megan and Rich but Liana sure was acting like a bitchy mistress.

“I am an attendant here. Liana came in and wanted to buy the limited edition wristwatch. Unfortunately, it was already pre-ordered so she can’t have it” she was neither rude nor polite, just straightforward.

“No Rich, she attacked me as soon as I entered the store and told me to stay away from you. You can ask my friends about it” she lifted puppy dog eyes that were brimming with tears causing his heart to break.

“How dare you do that to a decent lady” he shouted again, his face turning red with anger. He did not want anyone to suspect him of infidelity and yet his wife said that in public?

“Kneel and apologize to her right now” he pointed a finger at her in anger.

Megan could see the rage in his eyes and was so frightened. She turned to the onlookers but nobody was stepping forward to speak up for her even though they knew that Liana was lying. Compared to Liana, she was a nobody she thought sighing.

Giving up, she looked at Rich who was still glaring at her in anger as he held Liana in his arms. She lowered herself knowing that she had no option but to swallow her pride and apologize.

Just as her knees were about to get to the ground, a strong arm held her and lifted her. Surprised, she looked up to see her boss looking down at her.

Liana who already had a gleeful expression on her face at the thought of the humiliation that Megan suffered at work, was shocked. Rich, who did not know who the man was, felt agitated seeing another man holding his wife.

“Hey, who are you, and why are you interfering in this?” he asked, thinking that it was just a random man.

“I am the owner of this store now why are you trying to oppress and humiliate my employee?” he said as he pulled Megan to his back to shield her from her attackers.

“Sir, I don’t think that you know the character of this lady here so it is better to just fire her right now,” Rich said feeling self-righteous as if he was doing a good deed of ridding society of a menace.

Logan was going to hear none of this. He had been busy in his office looking over some contracts when one of the supervisors rushed in to alert him of what was going on. Hearing everything in detail, he came to see for himself only to find Megan about to kneel.

“Megan, why don’t you go and wait for me in the office?” he said then instructed one of the hostesses to prepare tea for her.

Rich could not understand why Megan was being given such special treatment and walked forward to Logan with Liana still in his arms.

“ Listen here, that is my wife and she is very good at manipulating people so it is better to fire her otherwise she will just ruin the reputation of this store” He did not want Megan working especially for a man that was treating her this way.

“You say that she is your wife yet you have another woman clinging to you like a koala?” Logan asked sarcastically.

Rich instantly removed his hands from around Liana and pushed her away. Liana desperately reached out to hold his arm but he moved a step away to dodge her hands. He did not want further humiliation.

“You have caused enough havoc to my clients and staff so I will politely ask you to take your people and leave or have my security detail throw you out,” Logan said, looking at them with disdain.
