Hunting my mate

*Nathan POV*

"Are you sure you don't want me to give you a ride home?" I asked Savy while waiting at the bus stop.

"Didn't your mom teach you not to get in a car with a stranger?" She giggled while raising her eyebrows. "She told me that, for sure."

"Fine, you have a point." I chuckled. "About the phone number, now." I wiggled my eyebrows with the sexiest smirk I could force my face to make.

"You are a persistent one, I'll give you that." She laughed and stretched her hand out. I put my phone in her palm, brushing my fingers slightly on her skin. She shivered and a little blush came back to her face.

So am I affecting you after all?

"Here." She gave me my phone back. "You can call me now to see that I have put a real one."

I chuckled and gave her a call. She raised her ringing phone to show me with a broad smile.

"Do you want to go out with me tomorrow evening?" I asked bluntly. Not really ready to part ways with her now.

"Not wasting any time." She snorted. "I'm singing in a bar tomorrow night, unfortunately. But you can come and listen, if you want."

The bus stopped in front of us and she got in, winking.

"Trinity and Kaiden will tell you where. Or you can call me tomorrow." She said and waved as the doors closed.

I stood there, on this damn bus station, looking at the bus, as she rode away.

The happiness that I felt during this whole evening disappeared somewhere. My wolf started to pace in my mind, not ready to say goodbye to her.

I need to go. I needed to be sure she was okay and reached her house safely.

I quickly undressed and hid my clothes in the bush, shifting into my wolf.

I was a massive one, as normal for Alphas. I had dark brown fur in the same shade as my hair, and the same brown eyes, but a little brighter in my wolf form.

I quickly ran up to the bus, hiding in shadows and bushes on my way, making sure no one would notice me.

I've gone mad.

This morning I didn't want my mate, now I'm stalking her, not ready to say goodbye.

I feel like a creep now. A mental one.

I followed the bus for the next 5 or 6 stops until I saw her getting off.

My heart started to thump in my chest. Now in my wolf form, I wanted her even more. She walked at a steady pace, humming a song under her breath, her sweet voice doing something insane with my insides.

I stalked her like a predator hunting his prey until she stopped in front of an apartment building. She started to shovel in her purse, looking for keys, cursing.

I chuckled, which made a throaty sound and she looked my way. I got lower on my paws, trying to hide in the shadow.

"Huh? A dog?" She tilted her head to the side and took a step towards me. "Are you a stray puppy? Come here."

Savy squatted and reached her hand forward.

I sat back on my hind legs, completely dumbstruck. Did she just call me puppy?

I moved closer and heard her gasp.

"Oh, you sure are not a puppy anymore." She said, amused.

I huffed and laid down, trying not to scare her. My mate chuckled, standing up.

"You are a big boy, aren't you?"

Oh baby, you have no idea.

"You also are not a dog, huh?"

She stood there, watching me in awe, still not scared. She sure is unique. A normal person would run or scream, but she just looked at me with a warm smile.

I backed up, walking inside the brakes, still observing her.

She stood there for a second more, looking in the direction of my disappearance and sighed, finally getting her keys from my purse.

I waited for her to walk inside and as I was just about to leave, I saw someone opening a balcony door on the first floor. I sneaked up under there and decided to listen. I could still smell her beautiful scent and I was pretty sure it was her apartment.

"I told you to air the room, Sammy. It's especially important while you are sick." She said with a hint of lecture in her voice.

"But it's cold outside." I heard a second person whine and I growled involuntarily.

It was a man's voice.

"Have you heard that?" The man asked, coming closer.

"Yeah, I saw a wolf in front of our apartment before I came in. Maybe it's him." Savy said, without fear.

"A wolf?" Man, called Sammy screeched. "In the city?"

"To be honest, we live on the outskirts with a forest nearby. Don't be a pussy." She snorted and I almost chuckled again.

"Am not!" He huffed annoyed.

"Yes, you are." She teased him more. "But, as we agree on that, how do you feel?"

"Better, your chicken soup is helping. If I didn't know you, I would think you were a witch or something." He laughed, his voice a little more distant now. "I'm sorry I wasn't at the premiere."

"Oh, cut it Sammy." Savy said, a little annoyed. "Your health is more valuable to me than your attendance. You are my only family. Besides, you were at almost every rehearsal."

I exhaled with relief. So he is this roommate slash family that she talked about before. I thought she meant a female but I never asked.

"Well, yeah. But if I came, I would see this extremely handsome man you've told me over the phone." He snickered and I grinned broadly.

So I made a good first impression after all.

"Well, it wouldn't change a thing. He would not go after you, you horny bitch." Savy laughed and I felt another wave of relief.

So her friend is gay. Thanks Goddess.

"You don't know that." Sammy chuckled. "So how did the date go?"

"It wasn't a date. We just went to eat something." Savy sighed and I could hear her heartbeat go faster. "But I wouldn't mind if it was a date."

"Did he ask you out?"

"Yeah, but I'm working tomorrow. He wanted my phone number and I gave it to him."

"Oooh sis, I bet you wanted to give him more than just a number."

I almost choked on my own spit.

But, same, I guess.

"Sammy!" She squealed and I could picture her blushing. Her friend laughed in the background.

"What? I'm not wrong, am I?" He chuckled.

"Well, yeah, maybe." She said quietly and I felt my blood going south. "But I don't think he can be interested in me. I mean, he is the most handsome man I've ever seen. I could barely focus on singing because I was ogling him for the whole show. He has his own company and I can see that he is wealthy."

"So?"

"So? Look at me, Sammy. A poor singer with a broken trust, not to mention all the shit that we escaped and is still hunting us. I wouldn't want to hurt anyone because of my attraction towards them." She sighed heavily and I felt anger rising inside me.

Who hurt my mate? I will find every single person who made her suffer and tore them apart.

No matter who this is.
