A New Life

DAKOTA

The guy who has just kissed me on the forehead, waves a hand in front of my face and leans closer to me. He's so good looking. But, who is he? Why is he shoving his face in mine? What in the world is going on?

"Love? You remember me, right?" He asks. I swallow hard. He looks so heartbroken, I want to cry for him.

"Kota, do you really not remember us?" the first guy asks. I don't know what to say. How can I tell them that I am not the 'Kota' they used to know?

"You're my little sister, Kota. How can you not remember that?" the blue eyed guy asks, his voice cracking at the end of his statement. I want to give him a hug.

"I'm sorry" I croak. The shock of hearing my new voice washes over me. It is sweeter and a lot warmer than my actual voice. Gosh, I must have hit quite the jackpot. However, that excitement is short lived when tears begin to fall from the warm brown eyes of the guy who had called me 'Love'.

"Don't you remember me? It's me, Hunter. Your Hunter. Babe, why aren't you saying anything?"

I can feel the tears now running down my cheeks. There's something about Hunter that makes my heart ache. He seems to be the perfect type of boyfriend. I feel an immense sorrow inside. Dakota is gone and I am replacing her. I can tell that she had been loved.

Hunter embraces me as gently as he can. I can feel his tears dampening my hospital gown. I can smell the conditioner he had used on his jaw length chestnut hair. I can smell his minty after shave. Everything about him, feels like home.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel sad" he whispers. The doctor walks in with a red haired woman. She has a striking resemblance to Dakota's brother. She must be her mother. Her eyes are blood shot and there are bags under her eyes. I zone out as the doctor speaks about my amnesia, saying I'd barely survived the accident. Apparently, everyone in the room are werewolves. Dakota, on the other hand, is a wolfless werewolf. It's why I can't feel her wolf. The pain killers soon knocks me out.

When I open my eyes again, I find The Six gathered around the bed.

"Dakota Steel is your new name. From this point onwards, you will live as her. You have to adjust to your new life as quickly as possible in order to make your mission smooth, do you understand?" the oldest among them says to me.

"What is your name?" A young man with grey eyes asks.

"Dakota Steel" I whisper.

"Listen more and talk less. That way, you can learn more about Dakota. Before you get discharged from this hospital, Landon will give you more information about your new life" says the woman who had spoken first.

The grey eyed man gives me a smile, exposing the dimples on his cheeks.

"I'm Landon."

I nod briefly. I feel like I have just stolen a life.

"You don't have to feel guilty. Dakota died on the surgical table. Her death isn't your fault" Landon tells me, giving my hand a small squeeze. Among the Six, he's the only one who doesn't seem uptight like the rest of them.

For the rest of my stay in the hospital, I keep receiving visits from Landon and Dakota's family as well. I have gathered information about my mission. Apparently, I am to find the seals. Moreso, I can only do that if I stick to a particular person who bears the name, Dashiell Gryphon. According to Landon, he's a dragon Lord who wants to use the seals for evil purposes. To worsen it all, he's the jerk who had murdered me. I'm willing to do my best.

..

I'm in Dakota's home right now and I'm in the bathroom. It's the first time I will be getting a good look at my new body. Slowly, I undress and stand in front of the mirror.

At the sight of my new body, I bring a hand to my mouth, tears already welling up my eyes. Dakota's body is mine now and this body is beautiful.

Dakota must have worked out a lot. I can feel the strength in her arms and core. Her hips are curvy, her small perky boobs are round and firm, her abs are defined and her waist is trim.

Never in my wildest dream have I dreamt of having such a nice figure. With a hair of fiery red, bright blue eyes, a few freckles on my cheeks, long eyelashes and full lips, I look cute and sexy at the same time. It feels unreal.

I turn around to get a view of my new back through the mirror. I let out a gasp, my eyes wide. There's a huge butterfly tattoo right there and beaneath it are scars. So many scars. The sight of them makes me sob. It must have hurt so bad.

I take my bath and get dressed. My brother, Dale, offers to take me out for a fresh air. Dressed in a grey hoodie and a pair of jeans trousers, I follow him out of the house. Maybe it's because I am now different, the air feels great.

At the park, he makes me sit on the bench, telling me he's going to get us something to drink. Once he's out of my sight, I rise to my feet and begin to walk. I don't know where I'm going. But, the urge to keep walking is so strong, I can't resist it.

Suddenly, I find myself standing in front of a huge company building with the name 'Gryphon's Inc. I realize with a jolt that this must be my target's company. Slipping on my hood, I walk into the lobby. There are security guards everywhere. Most of them are non human. I contemplate returning to the park since there is no way I can enter without a key card. I notice a couple of men striding towards the lobby. Heading them is someone who is extremely familiar. His black eye patch is a dead give away.

It's him. Dashiell Gryphon. He looks just as dashing as the night I had met him. The only difference is that his jaw is shaven clean. It makes him look a lot younger than before. Rage fills me at the thought of the fact that he had murdered me. I want to kill him right this instant. But, finding the seals has to come first. I quickly hide behind a large pillar as the men head towards the glass exits.

"Miss?" I look up when a petite blonde taps me from behind.

"What are you doing here? Do you perhaps want to talk to the CEO?" She asks and I blink, realizing how much of an attention I'm already drawing to myself. I straighten, letting out a nervous chuckle.

"Sorry, I'll be on my way now" I tell her as I began to walk backwards, keeping my gaze on her. My back collides with something hard and I freeze. A hand grabs my left forearm and spins me around. I let out a gasp, my hand clutching at the front of the man's shirt to steady myself. Gosh, he's tall. And, he smells so familiar. I gulp, afraid to look up. I can't believe I've put myself in such a ridiculous situation.

"Dakota?"

My blood runs cold in my veins when I hear that voice. Instantly, the memory of that night replays itself in my head.

'You look lonely,' that husky voice belongs to the same person who has just spoken. But, how the hell does he know Dakota?!

He brings a hand to my chin and tilts my head backwards, my hood falling of my head.

My gaze automatically connects with his and the air whooshes out of my lungs.

Oh, heavens. It's really him.
