I watched in awe at her exuberance and how her face transformed in that moment. She became even more beautiful, and that wasn't good for my sanity.

"How do you know Douglas is here too?" she asked, still smiling.

"Douglas?"

"Yes. He arrived just a little while ago. I thought you knew."

"I see," I replied. She began playing with the sand, making circles with her fingers as she spoke. "They're all at the pool. The kids are having a great time."

"Emily's children," she said, and I still didn't understand. "Emily, Nicole's sister. She's here with us too."
