Darren found a cheap motel around the corner and checked in. He only had some loose change on him right now. It was the living expenses the prison had given him when he was released.

He had to find a job first to keep himself alive.

The next day, Darren went back to his old house and started to pull out the overgrown weeds. Just as he was doing so, a man walked past his house and peeped into it out of curiosity. “You’re… Brother Cain!”

Darren stopped in his tracks and looked at the person in front of him. “Do I know you?”

“I’m Earl!” The stranger introduced himself. “I used to be one of your lackeys. Don’t you remember me, Brother Cain?”

Darren knew from the man’s name that he was just a nobody back then. However, it had been so long, so how would he remember someone he barely knew?

“Oh yes! Of course I remember you, Earl!” Darren went with the flow and laughed.
