Chapter 96

Chloe

"Hey," Addison mumbled.

I paused, stirring the cake batter I had been busy with and glanced up at her. The somber look on her face told me that we needed to talk.

And I dreaded the thought of it already.

For the past two days I had avoided everyone like the plague, eager to be alone, to break down my wired thoughts and analyze them with a clear head.

I had called David, telling him in limited words, how I had flopped the meeting with Park Hudson. Very limited words, all I had done was yell "I messed up" like a fool and hung up the phone. He had called several times after that but there was no way in hell that I would tell him what went down exactly.

Heck I was going to take it to my damn grave if I could.

"What's up?" My voice came out hoarse from lack of use.

"What... What are you making?" Addy asked, stepping beside me and peering into the cake pan. "Uh what's that supposed to be?"

"Cake," I grunted , eyeing the orange mass in the pan.

"Why is it orange? Carrots?" Sh
