Chapter Three

Olivia Keller

I ducked my head as I walked through the hall ways, I could feel hands pushing me out of the way trying to get past me.

"That jean is as old has my late grandma." I heard someone tell out.

Being a nerd in school was like being a nobody, being poor is like having a disease. Everyone here wears the latest designers and all. But here I am stucked with the clothes I've been wearing for months. I'm not complaining, but a tiny part of me still wish I was popular. Who am I kidding, I am an idol to my readers and I have inspired a lot of people to begin writing, but none of them knows who I am truly. I was like a mysterious writer, my insta_gram page, face_book page and twitter page were strictly for writing, none of it involves my private life. The most shocking thing was that, some of my bullies are actually my fans.

Imogen and her minions were gathered at the front of the notice board. I passed gently, quietly hoping they don't notice me.

"There is a new chapter update on Yes, Master." Alexis yelled out. I could hear her fangirling, screaming at the top of her voice. They were talking about my book, my latest chapter.

Alexis, one of the most popular queen bee in my school follows my blog and reads every of my stories and spams me with comments and reviews, even though I reply none of it. I sometimes wonder what will happen if she ever finds out the girl who she calls bitch and other disgusting names was actually her favourite writer.

I smirked, brushing my hair with my hands. I dared not go to the locker room, I dreaded seeing the offensive papers that would be waiting for me to cry as I read every insults scribbled on it. My mum doesn't believe I get bullied in school, because she doesn't see any bruise marks on me. I guess everyone needs to be educated on the type of bullies we have. It's not always physical, there's so much more to bullying.

"Freak, loser!" Someone called behind me, but I didn't dare look back to see who it was.

I get verbally bullied everyday in school, and it has so much affected my self esteem, I feel like a loser everytime. I've been belittled, demeaned with very offensive words.

"Hey loser." Another person called out, that only made me walk faster.

I let out a sigh of relief as I stepped into the class, without hearing any name calling. Only few people were in the class. The literary teacher wasn't in class yet.

I sat on my usual sit, looking behind me. Drew wasn't back in school yet. Drew was the only person I could call friend, she hates school as much as I hate it. Her parents don't treat her well at home, because they were expecting a male child before she was born but ended up having her, a girl instead. I guess people still need to be educated on Gender stigmatization. Both male and female children are equal.

The door to the classroom opened and Mrs Smith, the literary teacher stepped in. Swarm of students began filling up the classroom, most especially the back seats. Just then Jamaal my worst enemy stepped in with his squad.

He strolled in confidently, he was wearing his red and white jersey of the Colton tigers school football team with a blue denim jeans. The girls in class began to whisper. He chewed on his plump lips as he moved towards the back seats with his squads, suddenly our eyes met. I immediately looked away, facing Mrs Smith who already started scribbling some words on the board.

"Figures of Speech." She drawled out, snapping the lid of the black marker shut.

"Who can explain one of the types of figure of speech with examples?" Mrs Smith asked, squinting her eyes as she looked around the class, she removed her eye glasses and fixed it back before pointing at Ella. A tall girl with a model figure who likes wearing anything short.

"Simile, example as poor as a church mouth."  She said softly, kissing her teeth. I couldn't help but wonder what went on with her and Kelvin the other day.

"More like as poor as Olivia, girl! that denim jacket must have really suffered, tell me if I'm wrong. You have been wearing that jacket since middle school." Imogen said out causing a loud laughter to erupt from everyone in the class.

"If that jacket could kill, you would have been dead by now Olivia." Jamaal drawled out sardonically.

"And the world would have been a better place without you." Jordan added, giving me a hard stern look.

"Imogen, Jamaal, Jordan and Olivia." Mrs Smith bellowed, slamming her hands on my desk.

"Detention!" She yelled, packing her stuffs hurriedly, she raised her head up slightly, removed her glasses and gave a look she might think looks like a hard glare. Her eyes were too tiny for such glares, I wish I could tell her that.

"Detention." I whispered

I was the victim here, but still I get detention for what.

"See you in paradise Olivia mouse," Jamaal drawled out again.

"Squeak... squeak... tak.... tak ...... tak."  Jordan squeaked mockingly like a mouse. I felt so tempted to tell him he sounds like a dying mouse, but I know not to spark up the anger of Mr Jordan with the mouth odour.

"Olivia Keller, report to the Principal's office right now." The school's PA system boomed around the school building.

"Jamaal Amir Haidar report to the Principal's office right now." The voice added, I recognized that voice. It belongs to the Principal's secretary.

I sighed heavily as I began to pack my things hurriedly into my back pack. Firstly detention, now I was wanted in the Principal's office. I tried to think of what I did wrong. But I couldn't think of any. Everyone's eyes were on us, I knew they were all wondering why we were both wanted at the Principal's office.

I groaned, biting my lower lips that just began to tremble. I left the class before Jamaal met up with me.

Different thoughts kept running through my mind as I walked towards the Principal's office. Miss Claire, the secretary to the Principal was already at the door waiting for us. Her bright smile was always soul lifting. Her hour glass figure makes the male teachers drool a lot.

"Just in time Olivia Keller, the Principal is waiting for you right in her office." She said beaming with smile.

I sniffed repeatedly, she smells really good. Her perfume must be quite expensive.

"Oh, young Jamaal Haidar," she suddenly called, turning away from me. I immediately stepped into the Principal office before Jamaal.

The cool air from the air conditioner caressed my cheeks and the sweet smell of grapes lingered to my nose. Principal Jones was sitting behind her table with her glasses sitting on her nose in a funny way. She was a beautiful tall woman that takes education strictly. She handles every students with hard hands and doesn't condone any form of shenanigans.

In the background of Mrs Jones office, there are a lot of momentos from Crown highschool accomplishments, instead of a desk Mrs Jones makes use of a conference table. She keeps two fishes in a mini aquarium close to the window at the left side. All her framed diplomas were the first thing you see when you step into her office.

The office was a large one, filled with enough books that she mostly lends to the teachers. The walls were a lovely mixture of teal and cream.

I bowed my head in greeting, which was seen as a form of respect in here.

"Olivia, it's good to see you once again. How is detective Keller?" She asked, closing the book she was flipping.

"My mum is doing quite fine," I replied, I mostly don't like it when people refer to my mum has detective Keller. She is my mum and they could simply say your mum, but they go all the way with the detective and it really pisses me off.

I inhaled the sweet smell of the air freshener, just then Jamaal walked in. I looked around the office, not sparing a glance at Jamaal. The Principal's office hasn't changed one bit. Knowing one of the reasons students are called to the Principal's office is because of disruptive behaviors, makes my stomach clench.

"Right on time Jamaal." She said, drumming her table with her fingers.

"I will go straight to the reason I want you both here. Olivia Keller, like you know your grade has never for once dropped. It's a good thing, keep it up. Detective Keller must be really proud of you." She smiled facing me, I mentally scoffed. I felt like correcting her, she could have just said your mum instead of detective Keller.

"Jamaal Amir Haidar, I'm sorry you have to drop out of the football team, and that means you won't be able to continue as the team captain." She said, facing Jamaal.

I felt so tempted to laugh and boo at him. Serves him right.

"That is not possible, I'm afraid I can't." He growled out, slamming his hands on the Principal's desk.

"Then you have to do one thing Haidar, your grades, you need to work on it or you won't be playing in this seasons match." She drawled out, Making sure to emphasize each words.

"I and coach Martin's has agreed on this, you will be needing a tutor who will help you in improving your grades." She added, pausing to stare at me and then at him.
