They rode for hours unending, stopping at intervals for a short break. It was almost sunset when they arrived at the heart of the earth, the original location of Islandia where the portal once opened. They stopped their horses and got down from them. Votigern had been travelling for days unending, his only lead to the heart of magic had blown up in his face. So he and his men had taken a well-needed rest. He had a huge party that left him dead drunk throughout the day. He slowly opened his eyes, he had a banging headache. He slowly walked towards the door and opened it, a guard was stationed outside, “Send my food in…with a woman of course” He nodded, “Yes sire” He slumped on the bed, and not long after there was a short knock on the door, “Come on in” “Good morning Lord Votigern”, a lady's voice greeted him. He merely grumbled his greetings. She set the tray of food on the table and walked up to him, “What do you want my Lord?” He thought about it for a while, then he turned to look at her, his eyes unashamedly travelling through the full length of her body. As Raisel rode through the all too familiar streets, it hit her again, how could she forget? This was home, the home where she lived with her parents. Where she had made her first mistakes as a child, gotten her first scolding and grown into the strong woman that she was today. It was not the beautiful scenery that got to her, no this time it wasn’t perfection that Islandia was, the clouds were not excessively blue and did not look like soft foams that you wanted to reach out to and take a piece from, there were not much beautiful flowers and trees as the streets in Avalon assumed a more business-like front. Carriages and horses packed here and there, men were smartly dressed and attended to their different businesses. There were no dragons in all the wonderful colours you can imagine, in the most beautiful patterns, Avalon was dull and bereft of loud colours of any kind. Raisel tossed on her bed, and then she heard it again. She got up with a start, it was still slightly dark but a horse was neighing outside. She brushed it off and went back to sleep but she heard it again but this time it was much closer to her window. It was the early hours of the morning but if a horse was outside her window she had to check it out. She grudgingly got out of bed, it was a chilly night so she slipped on a robe and walked towards her window, she peeped outside but there was no one around or even a horse around. She thought of going outside to check but she did not want to use the door for fear of waking her mother up. Since she got back her mother had insisted on spending the night in her room cuddled up with her for fear of her running off again like the last time. It had taken her a lot to convince her mother that she and found the stone and had no plans of running away without her knowledge. They drank a lot of rum and chatted about everything and nothing. It was far into midnight and the bar was beginning to empty out. Coal didn’t have much customers to attend to, so he was able to engage them. A DRAGON TALE Deranged Prince
Raisel had planned to have a normal uneventful day when she stepped out that morning. However, she highly doubted that being strapped to a pillory while some certain deranged Prince alongside his arrogant friends threw spoilt fruits and vegetables at you was normal. Even if normal was very subjective and to each his distinctive definition. This was very far from normal, She sighed audibly, it had started like every normal day would. She had eaten a quiet breakfast with her mother as it was their habit these days and she had set out headed for the castle. She was a welcome visitor as a result of her father’s affinity with the Royal family. She chatted a little with the maids in the courtyard, and on her way out, the Queen mother of Avalon, Queen Solandis had sent for her. She needed help with getting ready and Raisel was happy to help. “Thank you very much Raisel”, Queen Solandis said, “It’s so kind of you to help” “It was my pleasure, your majesty”, Raisel replied with a small bow.

Raisel woke up early the next morning and grabbed her sword. It was the first her father made for her, they had used it for practice with him countless times. She grabbed some necessary supplies into a sling bag. She tied her ebony black hair into a ponytail. She put on a flannel top and leather pants and tucked her sword into its sheath on her waist. She made a quick stop at her mother’s room, she was sound asleep. She stared at her, pain overwhelmed her. She wanted to call out to her and run to her and snuggle her. She couldn’t bear the thought of her mother in any kind of pain or distress. More than anything she couldn’t bear the thought that she was the cause of the pain. However something else called out to her, a stronger purpose, it was very potent. It clawed at her insides. It wanted to be found.
