I didn’t need to wait another second. Mid-shift into my wolf form I picked up the dark murmur I feared the most. “Get her.”

By the time I had sunk to four paws the sound of their ripping clothes and paws on the gravel shore swiftly followed.

I allowed Priya to take over our escape, her nimble feet bounded over every log, rock, and clump of roots. Flying, her sure balance guiding us up and away from the water, twisting in and out of the tree trunks. All control was ceded to my wolf. I was a rodeo clown holding on for the ride as we travelled so fast my vision blurred.
