Chapter 23: Standing in the Rain

I returned to the bed. I tossed and turned but couldn't get back to sleep. I sat up cross-legged and looked at my phone glowing weakly next to me. I couldn't help my eyes drifting towards the window.

Edmond was standing in that direction. It was raining heavily outside, he should have already left by now.

I was a little annoyed to find that I still cared about him, and by the fact that I was worried that he would get soaked from the rain.

Don't be silly, Liana. Don't you know that he lied to you? He was trying to use you, and there's a good chance he's a murderer!

I scolded myself inwardly, trying to push away my worries about him. Then, I sadly realized that this was useless. It only made me feel even more upset.

"Ah!"

I took a pillow and slammed it in my lap to vent my frustration. I punched it randomly, over and over until I began to feel better.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

When I heard the knocking on the door, I forced myself to sit up straight and replied, "Come in."
