For the next few days, Lucas didn’t go to check up on the Dawson family by himself. He simply asked someone to pay attention to them.
It had been a few days, and he finally decided to take a look at them by himself. If possible, he also wanted to talk to them, to sort out the problem between them. He wanted to know what happened to them, that Auntie Ellia refused to acknowledge him.
This time, Lucas was standing in front of the same room again. He didn’t rashly knock on the door and got in. Instead, he was observing the situation first.
Inside the room, there were three people. The little boy called Juwen, Stephen Dawson, and Ellia Dawson. The little boy seemed had his eyes shut tightly, seemingly unconscious.
The familiar middle-aged was stroking his hair worriedly, glancing at her husband once a while. There was a conflicted expression on her face, as if something was bothering her.
The husband sat on the chair
The middle-aged man seemed to remember something as he scanned Lucas' face. "You are the child that surnamed Hernandez, right?"Lucas raised his eyebrow, feeling a bit surprised. The middle-aged man in front of him certainly knew who he was, unlike Auntie Ellia who refused to acknowledge him.He briefly glanced at the middle-aged woman who still had her eyes downcast, unwilling to meet his gaze. This caused Lucas to be more puzzled."Yes, that's me, Sir." Lucas gave him a small smile.Stephen gave a light chuckle, as if happy that he met with an old acquaintance. He gave the young man in front of him a deep look."You've grown up to be a successful man."Lucas didn't respond
After Lucas left the hospital and helped the Dawson couple to pay for their hospital bill, he quickly headed towards the office. There was a constant frown on his forehead as if he was thinking hard about something. He thought about Ellia Dawson's odd behavior and Stephen's casualness. The atmosphere around the two seemed a bit off despite them sometimes appear together to be a harmonious couple.Lucas's crease deepened. In the end, he just shook his head. The matter regarding their relationship absolutely had nothing to with him. As long as it won't effect on bothering him.He kept some of his suspicions to himself. He had learned a hard lesson not to be a fool any longer. He would just wait for Sofia, his childhood friend to come to the company. As she worked under him, he would observe her.
Mr. Ford was slightly startled as Andrew informed him that Mr. Hernandez was looking for him. He checked himself and make sure that his clothes were neat enough without any slight wrinkles, then all of his documents that had already been finished for today.Looking around the office, Mr. Ford cautiously entered the man's office and put on a natural expression.Lucas hadn't paid the man the slightest attention the moment he entered the office until now, yet Mr. Ford just put on a natural look and didn't seem to be impatient. He waited for Lucas's next order."Sit." Lucas finally looked up from his laptop and his gaze landed at the middle-aged man who was standing in front of him.Mr. Ford hurriedly complied with his boss' order and sat down the o
Finally, today was the day that he had waited for years to come. He was meeting that little figure from his childhood again. Strangely, this time, his heart was calm, as if it was just another normal day.Lucas walked through the glass door. It was quite early and some employees even hadn't come yet. As soon as he entered the door, Lucas immediately found Savannah talking towards another person. It was just a normal employee. He was pretty sure that his entry had attracted quite a lot of attention. But, Savannah didn't even glance at him, she stayed indifferent to him.Lucas didn't bother her. Especially, he didn't want to force her into anything that would make her uncomfortable. He knew that he wasn't as forceful as before now. Somehow, he had learned how to be patient. Some of the workers greeted him as he walked into his room. He was just waiting until the time when the work started. Until then, he could come out from here and meet her.Lucas l
Andrew ended up going with the two of them, Lucas and Sofia, nonchalantly squeezing a place and put himself in between the man and the woman with an oblivious expression. Lucas didn't react at that."You can order whatever you find fancy on the menu." Lucas kindly said to Sofia, who was looking rather awkward.Andrew looked at the two and just shook his head, pretending to be innocent. Lucas threw him a glance, making Andrew almost jumped from his seat. However, the man just continued to put on the same oblivious expression as if he didn't know anything.Lucas also found it hard to understand what Andrew was thinking."Alright. Thank you." Sofia said softly, glancing at Lucas before returning her attention to the menu in her hand.Lucas was about to raise his hand and called the waitress when Andrew suddenly spoke. "Savannah, and isn't this Janette? It's a coincidence to meet the two of you here. How about we have lunch at the same table?"L
"Are you alright ... Lucas?" Sofia's soft voice sounded out, stiffly calling his name. Lucas snapped him out of his daze.Lucas looked up to meet Sofia's beautiful face. He found out that she was a rather simple girl after Lucas had caught up with the things regarding her.She always wore simple clothes, the long-sleeved white blazer combined with the black skirt that went down her knees. She also acted more like a quiet girl next door.Lucas looked at her and nodded, he didn't speak anything. Right now, unlike last time that Andrew was sticking and interrupting the two. They were walking side by side of each other in the rather comfortable afternoon, right after they had a meal together. They went to the bookstore as per Sofia's request."Do you have something in mind that's bothering you?" Sofia tilted her head to the side, making her looked more lovely as she voiced her concern. "If you want to talk about it, I am always available."Lucas
Lucas didn't even know how he must feel right now. His eyes kept on glancing at the phone screen, with a slight shocking feeling that wasn't also quite a shock. It was a piece of news that just randomly popped up since he just casually typed on his phone. Yet, he was the only one that knew what it took to search for such news that would probably bring him more complications. It was the news about Savannah. Lucas knew he shouldn't have to get privy to her affairs, but somehow there was something inexplicable that caused him to do so."Are you alright?" Andrew dumped a few files on the table, his eyes accidentally swept past Lucas' phone on the table and the website of news that hadn't been closed yet.
"Let's go." Adrian dragged him excitedly after he exited the car, tugging on his sleeves.Lucas followed the kid's lead as he carefully walked to the familiar house. Adrian had been nagging him to bring him to visit Savannah's house. He couldn't help but give in to the little boy's endless chattering. He knocked to the tightly closed house. For a moment doubting whether there were people in the house or not. He waited. When none was answering, he knocked once again. The one opening the door wasn't Savannah as he somehow expected her to be. It was an old lady with hair fully white. A kind expression on her face as she regarded Lucas with a surprised look. After a moment, he noticed Adrian who was anxiously hanging on Lucas's arm. She smiled kindly at the little boy."Are you coming here to visit Amara? I heard from Janette that Amara has gotten a friend lately." She then moved her attention to Lucas. "And who is this gentleman? Are you the kid's fat
