Meanwhile down in the basement...

Elika had fallen asleep with her head on her knees, the tears that had fallen from her eyes as she thought of her mother and brother’s death still lingering on her cheeks. She stirred slightly, stretching as she woke, every muscle in her petite form aching. She shouldn’t have fallen asleep in the corner of the room behind the boxes, but she was too terrified to move; the voices that came from the living room drifting down towards her ears. She sighed softly, her small hiding place concealing her from the basement steps, the light having gone out hours before. What was she going to do now Darkous knew of her ability? What could she do other than obey him? Her mind swelling with the realisation that she would never be anything but a prisoner, her life forever in someone else’s hands.
