When I told Grace how I agreed to go to the party as Jason's partner, she laughed for almost an hour. I wished I found it amusing as well, but I was much more terrified by the fact that I had a date with my assistant. Furthermore, I had no idea what evil spirit whispered to my ear to say “yes” to him!
Of course, I kept telling myself that I was doing my friend a favor, but at the same time, I couldn't forget his sly compliments and alluring voice. My rationality mocked me for falling for his words, but my heart simply wanted to be fooled. Maybe, I was too tired of constantly keeping my guard up. I needed to relax and enjoy being treated like an attractive and adored woman, even for one evening only.
