Chapter 40

Samantha

I was biting my lips while waiting for Jacob. I called him because I was worried, but I wasn't able to stop my heart again. I want him. I love him. And now that I realized a possibility of losing him completely, I just lost it.

I swallowed hard. It's only been five minutes since our call ended, but it feels like a thousand years of waiting.

My breathing hitched when a car stopped in front of my apartment. The door was pushed open, followed by Jacob, who immediately got off his car and rushed to me.

It became slow. Everything seemed to slow down. Jacob was staring directly at my eyes as he walked towards me.

“Jacob…” I whispered.

He stopped in front of me. In no less than a second, I was inside his warm embrace. He's hugging me tight, so tight, and right as if his life depended on me.

“Thank you… Samantha, thank you for h-having me again!” He whispered with a shaking voice.

Slowly, I lifted my arms and hugged him back. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I buried my face in his ches
