Chapter 37

Damon's POV

She's been alone for a pretty long time now and I'm starting to feel bad. I didn't realize how dirty this ballroom really was or else I would have had a couple servants freshen it up before I started setting things up.

I'm finally finished with all the fine-tuning and make my way back the the dining hall. "Sorry about that, mate. I had the time of my life setting up for your next surprise."

She looks up and I see streaks in her makeup from where she had been crying and it ran down her face. "Leena? What is it?"

She uses a napkin to dab at her eyes and face but gives up when she realizes just how messed up it is. "I'm sorry. I don't even know why I'm crying. I guess I just felt abandoned a little and I'm just so emotional right now from being cooped up."

I rush to her side and scoop her up into my arms. She wraps her arms around my neck and leans her head in the crook of it. I walk her in silence until we get to the ballroom doors.
