Forty Nine

I open my eyes to meet the brightness of the room.

It takes me about five seconds to realize where I am and how I ended up falling asleep.

I turn my head, following the sound of the TV in front of me, and my eyes slowly dart to the blanket on my body.

Right, I fell asleep watching that really good movie with Evans.

He must have helped with the blanket on my body too.

I sit up and take notice of the table in front of me.

There's a plate of sliced bread and a jar of jam. And beside it is a note.

I pick up the note,

“Eat this while I'm gone. You were sleeping fine with the TV on, I didn't want to wake you up. I Went out to get something proper for you to eat. Wait for me. Don't open the door for anyone that isn't me.”

My heart skips a beat. I'm alone.

I settle the note back on the table and take a deep breath.

I'll be fine.

I glance at the television and derive my attention back to the food in front of me. I'm starving, yet I don't feel like fixing anything in my mout
