Charles didn’t want to hear apologies; he wanted answers. “How could this happen? How could you mix up such crucial information? Do you understand the emotional toll this has taken on us?” Charles continued, his voice a dangerous growl.

The old doctor took a deep breath, attempting to compose himself. “I assure you, Mr. McCall, we will conduct a thorough investigation into how this happened. It is an isolated incident, and we are committed to preventing such errors in the future.”

I sat there, numb and devastated. The joy of expecting a child had been abruptly replaced by the harsh reality of a cruel mistake.

I couldn’t comprehend the magnitude of the situation. Charles, fueled by anger and disappointment, demanded further explanations and assurances. He also threatened to sue the hospital if he didn’t get an answer to his questions before the week ran out.

With that, he stormed out, leaving me with the team of doctors , shame clouding me. One of them took the bold step of app
