The alarm clock buzzed loudly, jolting me out of my slumber. I rolled over and hit the snooze button, my mind still fuzzy from sleep. Everything had happened so fast, and reality had unfolded so quickly that I was still having difficulty coping with everything. It was like reading a prewritten script, and I was like an actor who only needed to act out my part.

It was hard to believe that I was going to be working under the man who threw me in jail. But hopefully, it was all going to be worth it because I was certain that a man like Arthur Dalton wouldn’t be stingy about the fees and we would soon be out of debt and the restaurant too would once again be on its way to success.
