Chapter Sixteen

David’s POV

Frustration overwhelmed me as I stormed into the bedroom, angrily tossing my tie aside. The moment I stepped through the door, I took my clothes off, one by one, following the discarded tie. I entered the bathroom, allowing the cool water to cascade over my body, washing away the stress of the day.

Just as I stepped out of the bathroom, towel wrapped around my waist, a persistent knock echoed through the room. With irritation, I yanked the door open and asked, "Yes?"

“Long day at work?” Berta asked as she stood before me, her arms instinctively wrapping around my neck.

But my patience was worn thin, and she was the last person I wanted to see at that moment. So abruptly shrugged off her embrace, snapping, "I'm not in the mood. Leave!" With a frown expression, she quickly retreated from the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
