** ** Omniscient narrator ** ** “Never mind,” he finally uttered, clearly hesitant to say what he had in mind. This was both to Anna’s relief and disappointment. She had been eager to hear what he wanted to say but for some reason, she was also scared of hearing it. “Alright then,” She said with a bit of hesitation and reluctantly walked towards the door. She could feel his eyes on the back of her head as she walked away, she had grabbed the door handle when something crossed her mind. Anna immediately turned around and like she expected, Mr. Blackwood was staring at her. “MB… Can I ask you a question?” He creased his eyebrow. “MB? What is that?” he queried, genuinely confused with what she had just called him. “Oh, short for Maxwell Blackwood.” Anna replied with an enthusiastic smile. She had been waiting since forever to call him that. “Well I don’t like it.” He groaned, immediately expressing his disapproval.
After reaching an agreement with the locals, Mr. Blackwood had decided that they take the day off. His work in Botswana was already done but he has chosen to stay a few more days for sight-seeing before they depart for New York City. Right now, they were in an open-top vehicle at one of the many wildlife reserves in Botswana. Their Guide parked the car at the edge of the wildlife from where they intended to entertain their eyes. Originally, the plan was to drive through the savannah for a closer look of the wildlife but Megan was too scared to be anywhere close to a wild animal and so she opted to stay outside and fly a drone to capture the animals in their natural habitats. Anna, not wanting to be separated from her, had also decided to stand by the edge, forcing Mr. Blackwood to agree with them. They had spoiled his big plans and there was nothing he could do. As they all alighted from the vehicle, they were handed small binoculars for clearer view o
“Do you think we will be leaving soon?” Megan asked as I walked out of the bathroom after brushing. She was sitting on the bed, admiring the photos she had taken yesterday at the wildlife reserve. “I am not certain. Why do you ask? Are you already tired of Botswana?” I asked with a chuckle. “You are kidding right? Girl, we flew almost a whole day to get here. Do you think I want to leave here without seeing the best of it? I am actually looking into a list of places we could go to.” She laughed out loud. “I see, I feel the same way, although I do miss home.” I acknowledged. Perhaps it wasn’t home that I was missing but rather the people at home. My gummy bear, I missed him so much, and Jennifer? Five days without her felt unreal. I had never been away from her for that long and it just didn’t feel right. Just then I heard Megan’s phone ding. She grabbed it from the bedside table and immediately looked at me. “It is a text from M
** Anna’s POV ** ** I was nervous as we walked into the room, the scent of his cologne hit me the moment I walked in. The room was cold and neatly arranged, I thought Mr. Blackwood restricted room service from being inside his room while we lodged, so who exactly did the cleaning? “Give me your hand.” He said softly, a little smile on his face. My heart jumped at the sound of that. “Um… okay…” I said reluctantly and then I put my hand in his own. “Good, now close your eyes.” He whispered. I wanted to refuse that but then I sighed, maybe I should just trust the process. “Fine,” I muttered and closed my eyes. He gently pulled me forward and then I heard his footsteps as he went behind me, I felt his hand on my waist and my body jumped nervously. “Shhh… relax,” he hushed in a comforting voice. I nodded and swallowed hard, he urged me forward to a point and then held me to stop. I felt his hand leave me
Mr. Blackwood sighed and rubbed his forehead like he was having a headache, then he turned away from me and walked to the edge of the bed.“Don’t turn away from me, Max. I want to know how you learnt that, who told you?” I said and immediately approached him from behind. He turned back to face me. “That isn’t what matters, but if you really want to know, then yes… It is exactly who you have in mind that told me.” He stated clearly. My heart jumped. No way! She wouldn’t do that to me. “You are lying!” I blurted in a weak tone and shook my head, refusing to accept his words.“I don’t lie, Miss Ann. Your best friend Jennifer told me about it, and don’t even bother to ask how I found out she was your best friend.” he finally announced. My heart dropped a few beats and I shook my head in denial. “No… it is not true, Jenny wouldn’t tell you that,” I whispered, waving my head in disbelief.“Unfortunately Ann, the world doesn’t work like
** ** Omniscient Narrator ** **Mr. Blackwood hears the sound of the door shutting in his sleep, he was still very sleepy but managed to open his eyes. His view was blurry, the room dim as the curtains were still closed. He gently tapped the other side of the bed but felt nothing, he turned to his side and she was gone- Anna had already left the room.He sighs and rubs his face with both palms, thinking back to everything that happened the previous night, they had made love like never before and were both very exhausted afterwards. He thought about the need to keep her to himself, he wanted her, he knew it and even though he was yet to admit it to himself, it was a bitter truth that he would be forced to face sooner or later.** **Annabel had just snuck out of Mr. Blackwood’s room with her shoes in her hand, she didn’t want to have any conversations with him today even though she had woken up beside him on the bed. She just had a lot of things on her
** Anna’s POV **As I packed my clothes into the luggage box, I couldn’t help but be bothered by my thoughts. Why did MB suddenly decide that we would be leaving? I thought the plan was to stay behind until good progress has been made at the Diamond Mine?Could his sudden decision to leave have something to do with our disagreement? If that was the case, he could have just sent Megan and I home, why abandon the whole project? I believe there is still a bit of disagreement at the position of General manager that is yet to be resolved, why would he leave a project in the midst of that chaos?I quickly turned to Megan who was busy on her phone, “Meg… Do you have an idea why we are leaving? Did Mr. Blackwood mention anything or sound mad to you?” I queried curiously.“Um…. Nah. He didn’t say, his instructions were clear; pack your things, we are leaving tonight although he did sound a bit tense and worried, but I don’t know what that is all about
It has been two days since Anna set foot back on American soil, she felt out of place in the weather as her body had gotten used to the African sun. Today was Sunday and she wished she could be in that church back in Botswana, singing and dancing like it was a sort of religious club.Forget about Botswana, let’s talk about complicated relationships. After three days of being snubbed by her best friend, Anna had taken the initiative to call Jennifer and invite her for a peace talk; she couldn’t live with the idea that she was no longer friends with Jennifer Gilbert.Their friendship was something that happens once in a pink moon, she was the nerdy poor girl back in school while Jennifer was like the hot cheerleader with averagely rich parents, the kind of girl that dates the basketball captain, but somehow they found each other and they got alongAnna was not ready to lose that just yet, she would sacrifice her pride and amend things before they got ou
