“What? What the- Ronny! What the hell.”
“I’m sorry old boy. Well, actually, I'm not. You need this, and it’s really not as bad as I have made it sound.” He reassured him as he pulled a folded newspaper out of his inside jacket pocket and slid it on his desk in his direction.
Geo snatched it up off his desk quickly. He scanned the Classified section. He saw where Ronny had circled the ad in red ink.
It read; Looking for a companion. Must be well educated, single, female, and between the ages of 21-40. Initial interviews will be held at the Regal Hotel at noon. Business attire is required.
Geo put the paper down on his glass desk and exhaled in relief. Ronny had been right. It hadn’t been as bad as it had sounded. It was vague at best and gave out no real information about either of them. Still, his friend had gone and done this behind his back. He strolled over to his office door and opened it wide.
Knowing his cue, Ronny stood up.
“Get out,” Geo said.
Ronny said nothing. Just walked past him and exited the office.
Geo shut the door behind him.
He couldn’t believe his friend's nerve.
He wasn't that entrenched in his work. Was he? Even if he was, it was still inappropriate. If the media got ahold of this information it could be devastating to the livelihood of his company and ruin him. He couldn’t afford to do something this foolish.
Ronny didn’t seem to care, and why should he? He thought. His family had been wealthy since money was created. He also enjoyed meddling in Geo’s life. Geo had always let him. Not anymore, he thought. He sat back down at his desk and went back to the task of working, hoping it would cool his temper ...
Ronny is quite the charector. Do you have a friend like that ? Vote with a gem if you are enjoying the story
Carolina’s mother, Karen, bathed herself and made breakfast. She looked and felt much better than she had yesterday.A few hours later, Carolina made her way downstairs and into the kitchen. The morning sunlight poured into the kitchen. She was wearing an oversized gray t-shirt with a black satin robe. “Good morning darling,” Her mother called to her when she saw Carolina enter the Kitchen. "I've made us breakfast. Come. Sit down. Eat.” She did as her mother asked of her. She sat down at the dining room table. Her mother sat across from her drinking a cup of freshly ground coffee while reading the newspaper.Carolina noted her mother had put the sections she wasn'
Her ex-boyfriend Russ had been texting her all week. He obviously wanted to make things right with her. They were newly broken up. Things were left unsaid. With everything that was happening in her life, she didn't feel like she could handle a relationship. There was so much personal power she was not willing to surrender to Russ. She did, however, trust him enough to allow him to lose her virginity. She picked up her cell phone after she was fully dressed. Today she wore an emerald green, long-sleeve sweater with a white T-shirt underneath. Faded jeans and her most comfortable pair of low-cut green Chuck Taylors completed the ensemble. She finally texted him back. His response was immediate. "Hi."
"Why? I thought this is what you wanted." She looked at him confused. "Isn't this the reason you were cheating on me with that slut Cherry?" "No. I told you I had been drinking. She took advantage of me, kinda like what you're trying to do now." "What! I have never done that. You invited me over." " I didn't think you would actually show up." He admitted. She was shocked at his admission. "Really?" There was a long pause. Russ spoke. "So we are getting back together?" "No." She said without hesitation. "Then why are you here?" He asked her.
Geo was on the phone with potential buyers from Hong Kong. He had studied mandarin and Japanese in his high school days. He was almost fluent in both languages. "I am honored to have your business until we meet next week." He said and bowed to them. They could see him on his office phone's pop-out flat screen monitor that was built into his desk. It was Geo's newest investment. He had enjoyed using it more than he had actually thought he would. He watched them return the gesture before disconnecting the call. The sleek monitor beeped twice, folded, and went back inside of the desk. His cell phone rang. It was Ronny's number. He decided to answer. "Speak." He demanded.
3 days later … Carolina pulled her car into the hotel parking lot. This afternoon she would be meeting and interviewing about the Companion position. If they liked her and her qualifications she would be hired. She hoped she didn't end up with some rich, bratty kid. She walked inside and immediately saw a sign that led her to the banquet hall. She opened the door on her left and saw about fifty uniquely beautiful women waiting in the large room. Everyone was dressed their best and seated as they had been instructed to do so upon entering the banquet hall. No one was talking. She noticed they were all attractive and around her age. She chose to sit in an empty middle row. There was a stage at the very front of the room.A few minutes passed and then a nicely dressed wo
She wanted to say no, but something wouldn't let her. "I can talk for just a moment. What's up?" It had been three days. Her mother's health was still doing really well. She had been able to attend class and this interview. It was a good feeling to be able not to worry so much about her or anyone. "Look, I'm really sorry about the other day. I didn't expect it. I ran into Noel the other day. She told me about your mom and how sick she’s been. How come you never told me, Carolina?” “I don’t know. I guess maybe I didn’t want sympathy.” "Why don't you come over tonight.” He suggested. “I really shouldn’t. You were right about me.” She admitted.
“Excuse me!” Carolina interrupted her before she could go any further. Her ex turned and looked at her then. His expression was that of a caught rat. "Slut." Trish spit at Carolina. "What did you just say?" She asked her, already knowing what was said. “You heard what I said. You’re a slut. “ She scoffed at the ironic remark. Carolina said nothing else, just picked up her keys and walked past her, making sure to shoulder shrug Trish hard enough to watch her falter as she exited Russ' home. “Carolina!” He called after her as she walked out of his front door. "Fuck!” She heard him yell.
Geo had been two years, three months, one week, and five days without the companionship or touch of the opposite sex. It wasn't because he didn't enjoy the touch of a woman. It was more because he was simply too busy and felt like a lady deserved her lover's full attention, and the past few years he was unable to do that. He never got home at a decent time, midnight was usually an early night for him. He went to bed even later working on the next takeover or business deal. What woman would want to be a part of his hectic life? Before becoming CEO he had known his father encouraged in-house relationships. He had dated three of his secretaries while he was married to Geo's mother. Once Geo was in charge he put a stop to it. He had replaced all the supervisors his father had hired except for one. Johnny DelMonte. He
