Summer was always my favorite season. Some people complained summer is too hot, or too humid, but I loved the feel of the sun shining down on me, loved being able to spend my entire day hanging out in and around the stream, and loved having an ice-cold lemonade at the hottest part of the day.

While it was technically not summer yet — the solstice was still several weeks away — the temperature was hot enough for me to claim it was summer.

Which was why I was doing exactly what I loved to do most during the summer; sitting by the stream with my sketchbook and colored pencils, a glass jar of homemade lemonade by my side, my toes dipping in and out of the water as I sketched, my hair pulled back in a loose braid at the back of my head, several loose strands hanging in front of my ears.
