Chapter 35

Habits were hard to break away from. I had spent two weeks away from work for the wedding and the honeymoon. When I got up in the morning, my body had fallen back to my routine.

Almost mechanically, I woke up and got ready for the day and back to work. For a moment I forgot about Lilian and that I was married. I was brewing my coffee, munching on an apple when Lilian came downstairs.

It wasn't until I laid my eyes on her was I reminded of her existence. She looked surprised to see me, I wonder why.

It seemed like she just rolled out of bed as her eyes were still a bit clouded with sleep, her hair in a messy bun. She was wearing a robe over her nightgown which she tightened around herself upon seeing me.

"Good morning." I greeted focusing on my coffee.

"Good morning." She replied, walking past me to grab a bottle of water from the fridge.

"I'm going to work now. My secretary will be here in a few hours to take you shopping."

She just drank out of the bottle as I spoke.
