Chapter 52

Kayla left after a few hours saying she had a date. After she left, I had a short nap after which I began sketching new designs.

When it was evening, I went downstairs to make dinner. I could hear the men talking outside and it made me feel really uncomfortable.

I knew Byron did this to protect me and there was no way he could have known about my fear and dislike for men but still, I couldn't put up with it. I resolved to tell him how I felt about the bodyguards when he came home.

I put all my focus into making the casserole, trying not to think about anything or anyone else. I droned out their voices and focused on the pitter-patter of the rain on the window.

After cooking, I took my food up to my room and turned on the TV. I surfed through channels till I found one I was interested in. I settled into my position and stuffed my mouth with food.
