A week later, Cassius’ losses started. The investment which should have fallen apart a few months from now crumbled unexpectedly. As my father and Alpha Koa pulled out at the same time, Koa’s people must have pulled out too and things ended earlier than I foresaw.

It was on a cool evening a week after the stint with April. I had been sipping a glass of orange juice and flipping through a magazine when I heard Cassius’ earth-shattering scream. It was a scream so deep and desperate that it left me feeling satisfied even before I knew what had happened.

As an actress, I immediately went into acting mode and rushed to his office. I was not the only one who rushed over. April also came running at her mate’s screams.

We met at the door and we both paused. Her eyes flashed with anger before she lowered her head. It must have been clear to her by now that no matter what she did, Cassius would continue to hang on to me.
