Chapter Sixty-Eight

Getting our clothes on after sex was a bit more of a somber affair than usual. Carter didn’t even look at me while I readjusted my clothes, making sure that I didn’t look like I was just fucked in the conference room by the boss.

When I finally thought I looked presentable, at least on the way to the Ladies Room, I walked over to him. He was still buttoning the buttons on his dress shirt, so I leaned in close to him, put my hands over his, and finished buttoning up his shirt for him.

He smiled warmly. “Thanks, Jane.”

I was glad it made him happy. “Anything else you need from me, sir?” I asked.

His eyes flared a little bit at the use of the word sir, and I made sure to remember that for later. But then, it looked like he remembered something, and he nodded his head.

“Have you told anyone you were on my boat last night?” he asked.
